First run on wood.
Love that beautiful sound!
Did you figure out the excition of the windings problem?
I bypassed a mode in it called exercise mode. It was the automated startup procedure to test if the generator would start. After that it would run with out dying and the gauges would show it was making power. I have not hooked the wire up and tested them yet I have been to busy on other things.
Sounds great. Thanks for sharing!
Looking at this pictureā¦
and the blue square with the white circle in its center looks like a trimmer potentiometer to me. IF this is a voltage regulator then it is possible that trimmer pot is a fine adjustment for the output voltage. If it is corroded inside that could be the cause of your excitation problem. Worth a try to work the adjuster screw back and forth through its range of motion and see if it comes back to life.
Well, with Jakob working almost non stop to try to get my brother caught up with 4 months worth of work in three weeks. (Covid shut him down pretty bad. Workers all left to apply for govt moneyā¦ The galvanizer shut down for 6 weeksā¦ Etc but customers all still want their dock by memorial day.)
With Jakob gone, me and Luke sick, not much happening for projects except Jesse and his lawn mower.
But yesterday, Naomi and I both had sewing projects. She has learned how to make her own patterns for clothes. She can make a dress just from looking at it on a video screen. Sheās really good at it .
I had a little sewing project yesterday also. One of my people stepped through a bad board on a deck.
.
Time for Naomi to go into the cloths mask making business.
My older sister and her adult daughter both crafty seamtrist made up double layer pocketed masks for all of us. These have a removable sanitizable inner commercial filter layer.
I used mine much yesterday taking the wife to the hospital for her kidney stone day surgery. And then multi-store shopping on the long way home for the waiting period.
My family made mask works much better for me an eyeless wear than any of the commercial disposables.
'Bout midway for breathing effort between an easy-breath edge leaky disposable and a good commercial gasping-breath N-95 without an exhale valve.
Plus selective color/pattern outer cloth.
Mines dark, dark green with an oak-leaf pattern.
Snazzy.

Billy, what equipment do you use for stiching wounds? Original kit?
Its hard to get that here if you dont have a good connection at the hospital. I usualy sharpen a thin needle to a 3 point edge (cuts skin better thain a round point) and use alcohol soaked horse hair as a thread. Pour a concentrated solution of bee propolis over the stiches, it makes a antibiotic crust over the wound. Thats some amazing stuff!
I think Iāll just be very careful and try to avoid stitches, thank you. Ha! Ha!
We try to keep some sutures on hand all the time. When I was growing up we used a normal sewing needle and horse hair or fishing line. But you can easily Stab yourself sewing with a straight needle. Human skin is very tough. We just order it on Amazon. I think we ordered some today. A variety pack 30, and different sizes for 20$ . We buy lidocaine when we are overseas usuall because itās cheaper, or through an animal medical company when we order antibiotics. Itās also available on Amazon. I just use diabetic insulin needless, but it takes several usually.
Trying to be careful only works as long as it does. And then you can either do it yourself or spend$500-$1500.
No lidocaine here. Just schnaps
Ai ai, Sylvester Stallone was not the only one then? It is real. And I thought it was special that I did some stitching in the army in the 90ās?
Better not cut yourself, that is best
You mean the only American? There indeed are far fewer Americans sewing themselves up than there was a generation or two ago. Now a days, for those without health insurance, other than healthy eating, it is the easiest way to save money on healthcare.
Wow, is that an isue? Saving on healthcare?
I am never ( almost) sick, but if I have an accident, i just go to the hospital and donāt worry about the cost.
Whatever happens in America is reality in Europe after a few yearsā¦
Sure. Doctors cost money just like mechanics and plumbers. I do my own mechanicing and plumbing and building and gardening, etc. Also.
One thing that has always intrigued me about peopleās perspective on doctoringā¦ Somehow doctors have been given some kind of status in society that makes them almost god like. I appreciate doctors and modern medicine a lot. I had surgery last year on my back and it has changed my life. But one thing a lot of people forget is that every single stitch that has ever been put into a human being was done so by another human being. Each one of them learned how to do it somewhere. The world would be much more self reliant if everyone would realize that they are human being also, and they can learn to do things like the"experts" as well. Doctoring, repair work, building, food production and preservation, etc. Instead we have developed an entire generation or two now whose primary response to all things is ādial 911ā. Generally expecting other people (āexpertsā ), to take responsibility for the (ānormalā) people. I guess for some, this is the start of some political debate. Thatās not my intentionā¦I just think that we are all better if when individuals take personal responsibility for their own needs. The more local and individualized the response, the better. I guess thatās the old-time Alabama rebel in me. Lol. That said, I guess if I lived in some place where there was āfreeā universal health care, I would probably not sew anyone up at home. Lol
Right, it is never free. I donāt like banks or Insurance companies, but no insurance is to much. I donāt dare
And the horsehair is not infected?
Billy, did you know the Swedish word for tax and treasure is the same?
JO, no I did not. SO you get ātreasured to deathā, or you get a ātreasure cutā. ? I like that. We should use that terminology here. It makes for a good perspective on government funds.
Joep, Thatās why I used quotation marks (about it being free). As for insurance, I suppose we trade a lot of the peace that comes from āinsuranceā for the peace that comes form āAssuranceā from our faith in God to take care of us. Maybe that makes us foolsā¦but it seems to work out for us pretty well.
The horse hair has to be boiled to sterilize. Or, I suppose, soaked in alcohol. But real sutures are easily accessible usually enough. But they do deteriorate over time. Storage conditions matter. The other day we looked for a long time for a suture that was still good. We finally found the only one left that I didn;t leave in Africa last fall. Goes to show the need to keep up with your supplies.
There is also a type of cactus we have with a sharp spike on the end of it that has a natural fiber āsutureā already attached to it that we can use, but it is bigger and leaves more of a scar.I Donāt like it for people, but it works well for horses and dogs and cows.
My best friend has been a missionary in Zanzibar for over a year now He came back for a family emergency. He spent the day with friends. He is a little rusty but fun to watch.
