Peterbuilt and Kenworth are both owned by Paccar, which is a fortune 500 company based in Washington state as near as I can tell. But you are right most of the trucking industry is consolidated and mainly owned by european companies if I remember correctly. Freightliner is owned by Daimler who also owns mercedes and Navistar International is owned by Tratan which is a subsidary of VW. Mac trucks is owned by Volvo is owned by a chinese company named Geely .
