Looks good, maybe talk the price down a bit due to rust on the roof!

Just found a good 1994 5.2L magnum V8 Dodge Dakota, pretty nice for a northern truck. mileage ok and a little rust, 4 wheel drive as well. solid candidate for wood gas.

found a 1993 dodge dakota RWD 5.2L V8, has 138,000 miles on it. looks in decent condition, could use some cleanup, but all things considered, it is a good vehicle for wood gas.

found a 1999 dodge dakota with the 5.2L 318 V8, fenders and bumpers rusted, about 178,500 miles, and 4WD.

You always blow my mind with those old southern trucks. You wouldn’t want to look at something from 98 here with high miles it would be really ugly.

I believe this truck has the 5.2 L motor, not a 5.9 L

Looks like another excellent candidate, one owner, low miles, 2WD and no rust! Its like buying chickens. The initial few bucks to buy proper sorted pullets is nothing compared to the lifetime cost of feeding them!!

I am alway amazed at the trucks you find down there. I just passed that along to a friend of mine who is looking for a truck no idea if he would actually get something that far off or not.

Hey Dan .

That truck would be good for someone not yet ready to build and mount a gasifier . One could drive it a hundred thousand miles then mount a gasifier after some of the new is worn off.

The big question is does it have 4wd. It wouldn’t work well up here in the winter if it is only 2wd.
I am trying to convince him to build a gasifer so he can clear brush from my fields I have too much to do and don’t seem to do it.

I saw that one. 2WD, pooh!

This one is a bit too expensive and only V6 but sure looks nice.

Looks like I no longer need two cars. I am thinking of selling them and buying a 92-95 Dakota per the book. Not sure if I would ever get to convert it to chargas but it would be nice to have that option. My cars (same model and year) will tow 3500lbs so 5500lbs would be nice. Does the V8 have stronger transmission and transfer case? 4X4 is a must plus it needs to be reliable because of traveling for health care. A lot more to pick from above the 1995 year but I would hate to pass on the woodgas/chargas option. Are we still locked into the 92-95 years without jumping through hoops? I would like to keep it simple.

Thanks!

Good morning Jeff.

The 92 - 96 dakota are the same . In 97 the body style changed and there is a shock absorber that needs to be relocated . ( Kevin Delonay said no problem with his 97 ) As long as you stay with the 5.2 or the 5.9 motor I think you will be OK ,

Not sure when dodge stopped making the above motors , early or mid 2000 I think ?

I don’t consider the dakota much of a work truck but a car with a pickup bed on it . It will go down the road good .
