I have worked in the foundry business. They usually make patterns out of [RenShape](https://www.freemansupply.com/products/machinable-media/renshape-modeling-and-styling-boards/renshape-460-medium-high-density-modeling-board). But for just a few castings I usually use MDF. Do you have a CNC? Also we have a whole thread dedicated to [metal casting](https://forum.driveonwood.com/t/all-about-metal-casting/4595).
