Gasifier Networking In Canada

I don’t know of anyone else doing syngas. If you explain it to people the odd one is interested, but it takes a very particular personality to actually want to see it through. Very few people are decent metal fabricators plus auto tinkerers, plus have the time and space to do such a project, a healthy scrap metal collection and then have access to the biomass supply. I suspect however that as the global oil situation progresses suddenly there will be a lot more motivation, same as the situation in Australia and Europe in WWII. But this situation is moving too fast and with too little background information to adapt. Back in the day syngas was a known fringe technology commercially deployed.

Hi. Yes not much interest around here, but a few who are keen. Mostly people get a glazed over look on their faces and smile at you sympathetically. I have never worried much what others think of what I do. Once my burned finger settles down I will finish my charcoal retort and try out the gasifier. Thank you for the input .

Hello again. My burned thumb is all healed and my retort will be finished tomorrow, so I will soon be cutting up some dry wood and do a charcoal burn, It’s been drizzly a lot lately which makes it poor for working outside, and lots of mosquitoes and ticks here as well. Haven’t started the charcoal sizer yet though

Even though I’m in Ontario, I identify as Albertan. Plus I got my '96 Dakota v8 from Alberta. So all that should count for something.

For the record I learned about this place AFTER my son built Ben Peterson’s gasifier & it works well. He did an awesome job with it. Currently working on the “plumbing” mods for the Dakota.

To your point we have until 2028 to get these bad boys running as gov intends to bump up the Ethanol content at the pumps to 15%! Confirmed by gas supplier. In Ont recently several cars got bricked on tainted gas. They want us all on EVs. When the dust settles, those on this thread could very well be the only ICE on the road. And then there’s the kill switches on 2027+ vehicles.

Hi. Where in Sask are you located. I am on a farm about 100 miles north of Saskatoon.
