We have had 5 feet of snow so far this year and right now our ground looks the same as the ground in Tone’s tractor video. Been through 3 complete thaws. Too good to last. Round 4 starts this week and then the polar vortex. I’ll cry about it now because I don’t want the tears freezing up my eyes later on when we go sub-zero.

Now I’ve showed the currently best in a one-hand portable imho; look at the nearly 2000 watt unit kicks the snot out of my previously bought $1500. early 21st Century Yamaha EF2800.
The larger engined Yamaha 2800 and Honda 2000 cannot start and run my oil-less air compressor.
This 80cc engined built down to the lowest possible price newer 21st Century unit can.
Can get three for the price of the Honda. Can get five-six for the price of a next size up Honda or Yamaha.
Or to power up my air compressor I can listen to this very noisy best of the late 20th Century, Sears Craftsman unit and use 3X the fuel
It was family given to me as a used little, set aside, free. A birthday present. Rated 3500 watts, with a 240 VAC possible output. Lots of electric motors starting grunt to this scream-o’-matic. The large case-mass in the generator head I figure.

For understanding the workings of small ICE generators, I really like James Condon’s youtube channel. He focuses on traditional directly coupled generators versus inverter type, but there is still a lot to learn from his videos. Simply put, he buys broken generators on the cheap and fixes them. His testing and repairs are quite thorough, and his running commentary makes it easy to follow along and learn. I took a lot away from his videos.

Hi all. Late to wish everyone a Marry Christmas but l think l can still wish a happy new year!
As much as l hate winter, this is a nice one. No snow, temps around freezing and this year the fog stays low so we have nice sunny weather.
I learnt a while back the importance of winter rest, hibernation, wich l practice as much as possible so l havent got anything special to show you guys, been doing some work on the house, a litle bit in the forge… but mostly resting in the shortest days of the year. Slowly waking up now 
Maybee just a short clip, kids got a new saddle today and we tested it on this wonderfull evening with a sea of fog rolling underneeth our homestead. Our 3 year old still has some growing to do thugh to even reach the stirrups but seems he doesent bother

Hibernation is valuable - yes! I practise it in full right now. Down in a flew and -17C. My only chore at the moment is keeping us warm. BBB
