Lookee what followed me home today

If you want max stated lift from a crane truck then try lifting your weights as close to the bed of the trailer as poss , it looks like you are at least 16 inches away and that would lower the lift amount a fair amount , try playing with some known weights and see what i mean starting as close to the bed and moving away .

yes, I did. With the pallet closest to the crane, he still couldn’t lift it. Almost. I guess if I take one layer off, it wil. Or fix the pressurething, but that one can’t be found. Maybe higher voltage, 18 or 20 V? No experience with hydraulics.

I am assuming you have an electric motor driving a hydraulic pump. Changing the voltage would only make the pump run faster and the flow rate higher but the pressure wouldn’t change. Their should be a pressure release valve in the system. Typically it is on the control valve and is adjustable. But be careful you can blow a line or the pump if you close the valve too much and dead head the pump. Best thing is to put a pressure sensor in the system to make sure you don’t exceed the pumps rating and then adjust the pressure release. A local farmer or hydraulic transmission repair mechanic should be able to help you adjust the hydraulic pressure. I blew a fitting out of a hydraulic pump recently because I thought I was smart enough to just wing it myself without knowing the pressure. That made for a not so fun repair.

If that’s the case then i would not overload it, its just not worth what could go wrong get half ton pallets and load twice , much safer and easier to handle .

Safer, sure, but not transportable anymore. The plastic has to get cut.
Next weekend I will take another look for the pressuresensor/valve. It doesn’t need much. Thanks.

Hey AL,

skip to the article bottom and you’ll see little cutie could be made to make 150hp on carburetors. Saab themselves with boost took these out to 200-240hp in some Rallye classes.
Se if you can advertise it on auto parts site to old Saab 96 owners needing replacements.

Wikipedia may not allow anymore cross linking. Direct look up Ford Industial V4 to find. more information.

I actually rented a Ford Taunus in 1985 when I was stationed in Germany. I was amazed how much better it drove compared to the Taurus. My folks came to visit me at the time. We took it down the Autobahn and in the mountains of the Schwartzwald.

Hi Steve, parts are crazy expensive for these V4’s, that why I’m repowering it. One guy online said he replace his with a Ford 2.8 out of a Ranger, suppose to bolt in, but they are hard to find now.

Hi AL,FRICK interesting project, have you seen any mpg reveiw from any one else thay did the deisel switch. ? just currious becouse i put a mersadies 300 desiel in my s10 only too see it got only about 23 mpg. Not all that good for a stinky desiel.my next project other than wood gas my 99 dakota is putting a 5.9 inline 6cyl cummins engine in my 3500 chevy, since it gets about 7 mpg the way it sets 454.

Ha! Ha! Yeah V-4 parts were crazy even back when these were new production in Germany and shipped here into the US.
Why I said offer it parts out one piece at a time. Or in piece sets. Rusty or not.

Damn stout stiff little engine though. Could make power hot-rodded up to crazy RPMs for a push rod engine.

Kevin,
About the same mileage my 1985 MB 300SD turbo diesel got on a good day. Now it is sitting dead in my driveway. Hate to call the junkyard, but promised my wife Joy I would get rid of it a long time ago!! Too many miles, weak compression, will not start at all in cold weather, I tried again this week with block heater and jump from my Subaru, no go. :unamused:

Hey Mike, it might start good with a little wood gas mixed in. Maybe use a simple fire gasifer. Happy New Year to you all.

Yes. I don’t want to put another dollar or hour into the old beast, even though I really like the car! I was hoping to get it to start, then put on Craigslist as “runs , drives ,ok for parts”. I have way too many projects around here and need to learn how to let go of some!

I know what you mean it aint allways easy, i put quit bit of time and money in vehicles. Its allway good too see the yard space if ya gotta acrap it. I took one too scrap this year after pulling the transmission, tires, nice aluminum drive shaft, for repurpus, i let the motor go it had a spun bearing.and sold my 4 cyl s10 at auction, too many projects, not needed so i let it go at auction cheap, but still made more than scrap price, and some body got a decent body too fix up mechanicle stuff.
