Now my wife will not even let me put “an ugly black-box” fully advanced 21st century stove into our living spaces.No-o-o-o. Has to be “pretty” cream colored porcelain enameled dust-catcher, beauties. Sigh. Possible. For a 30% greater price. An ~10% loss in transfer efficiency.

Maybe get an efficient “ugly black box” and surround it in pretty thermal-mass cobblestone?

Get a soapstone stove they look great and the high thermal mass. I love the one I have here.
