Thirty-five years of experience in the upstream oil and gas industry, BSME, University of Texas at Austin, 1981. First interested in woodgas in the early 2000’s. I’m a “Peak Oil” guy (Google my name and Peak Oil), and that spurred my first interest in woodgas. (Peak Oil is just resting right now, and not for long …). Anyway, in 2010 I had the pleasure of visiting Mr. Wayne at his home, and also attending an APL workshop with jim mason. A great friendship with Ray Menke evolved out of the Yahoo woodgas site. I’ve enjoyed shooting the breeze with Mike LaRosa, getting tutored on machining by Ron Ohler, learning a lot from Maxgasman, speaking with Vesa on the phone and emailing Dutch John. Meanwhile it has been a blast to get hang out with Gary Gilmore, Bruce Southerland, and all of the woodgas folks! Although I value focus and completion, sometimes things just work in parallel. It’s tough when you’re interested in everything! I have completed a Gilmore/Kalle, a Honda XR100R with Simple Fire (aka the Motofier), and a Simple Fire for a Mule-type utility vehicle. I also have assembled one of Doc TLUD’s quad stoves, a 16 brick rocket stove and an Anila-inspired charcoal retort. Meanwhile, my MPM Imbert and Open Top are nearly complete, and a LaRosafier is well along. Meanwhile, we have a grassfed beef business, grow some chickens, garden, hunt, fish, ski and do a little blacksmithing …
