This guys site is huge. Somewhere he build a large digester that he filled with manure from his cows. I don’t recall whether it worked well or not, but originally he got a bunch of people to fund his projects on Patreon and build a large hoop house with aquaponic trout and a lot of automation. If you go back 4 years in his videos you see that a large snow load collapsed his hoop house and ended most of his projects. He went into tool reviews and I lost interest. There were a lot better reviews out there. Now I see he is doing stuff again and I will have to start checking it out. Anyway I have never seen anyone with a digester get enough gas production to do more than some cooking. However I quit look a ways in the past. A lot of information on this site about systems.

Blessed to have this downpour, as over much of my drive to work it was accompanied by lightning strikes illuminating the dark cloud sky’s. A wonderful show of nature’s raw power. And I guess a good reason to fix the heater and the driver side window in the geo…seat was a little wet and windshield a little foggy. Still my boys enjoyed the lightning show as did I

We have a dairy farmer in our church that milks 2000 cows and has digesters in 3 stages that produce enough gas to run a 12 cylinder catipillar engine generator to run his whole farm off cow sh#t.

It is possible, but the payback period for it is usually rather long and the acidity eats metal… But the state checks nitrate levels, in the ground around cattle and it is a huge fine. It might have been the cheapest option. because if they even allow lagoons anymore, they would have had to haul in massive amounts of clay to line it. And the lagoons are dangerous. lots of people have died in them.

Can you imagine dealing with 2000 cows? I can’t. Regulations have put a big dent in the number of small dairy farms in Michigan. When the Republicans were running the state they did what they could to promote industrial agriculture and pass laws that made it very hard for the guy with a hundred cows to stay in business. What ever side of the political fence you fall on, if you are a regular joe then a politician is going to try his damnedest to violate your pooper. As George Carlin pointed out.

I can’t but it is actually less work per cow for 2000 then it is for 100 because you can afford better equipment. And you might hire 3-4 people to help you, which means those people can have vacations or get sick without it affecting the business.

Fired up the forge this evening, wife wanted to practise some forging.
Fun to “work together” some in the basement shop, she had some opinions against my messy shop though 😊
The garden looks sad after all cold and rainy days, the tobacco seems to thrive anyways.
The potatoes hasn’t been this bad as long as i remember.

Bouy 10 on the Columbia river bordering Washington and Oregon is a hot and sought after king salmon fishery, dad got notified of a guide that had a group of clients cancel so seats opened up so we got to learn how to fish a new area today
Astoria bridge connecting the 2 states
8 year old youngster on the boat catching his first salmon and a few videos of salmon. Dad and I only caught native wild fish that had to be released, but we also got sent home with crab

Hey Marcus glad you had a great time.
If you take out your own boat to/past Buoy 10 listed carefully about reported bar conditions.
No so much the weather but the actual bar conditions.
The US Coast Guard trains natioanlly recoveries there because of the more often than not rough bar conditions.
Many have been fooled and needed rescuing. Them. Not their boats.
North Jetty used to be my/ours annual haunt. Salmon. Sea Bass.
Perch were off of the sand surf. Also fun but can get you easily swept out.
The one my legs aged out. The other I decided having a happy life with the wife was more important.

Years ago I was fishing out of ilwaco for sturgeon and over the radio we heard 3 boats go down on the bar. Dad was out on a charter there years ago big boat 42’ and watched 2 boats go over and get rescued.
I don’t feel the need to go across the bar in our 21 footer, I can’t see the juice being worth the squeeze when we boated 12 kings and one coho off tongue point today in 8 hours. The inside is much more safe even with the current and swells, it’s big enough water I won’t take the boys out there until they are VERY proficient swimmers. Plenty of good crabbing off the lighthouse as well, we picked up 16 keepers in 5 pots that’s good numbers for me!
If only they had been clipped we would have limited the boat on kings. Saw at least 300 fish caught across the fleet and the purpose of the guide was to get the local intelligence so we can start using our boat more. Pudget sound is fine,but crowded and full of jerks no clue how they got their captains licenses with the way the drive their boats!
Yes the inside is fine, no need to go past buoy ten I don’t think

Well we had some nice needed rain showers late last night.
This morning out hand swinging the weeds flail on the perimeter walking path grow in grasses, ferns and vine growth I stepping onto a new ground hornets nest.
They know the seasonal changes. Now frenzy desparate to finish up before they age-out-die.
Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! A 600 foot run from the far property corner down to the house to get behind doors and screens. Shedding gloves, hat, outer shirt, under shirt on the way.
I am sure I was quite the sight. Owe lots of quarters to the foster girls swear jar.
Five stings one arm and back. The one hornet that made it into the house showed they are the small banded types.
Oh well. My so far, long deferred avoided painful annual arthritis treatment.

Never ending battle with them little buggers. Stepped on a nest out hunting once, couldn’t get my pants off fast enough I think the long johns saved from the worst of the stings in sensitive places

You are fortunate. The mother of a neighbor several months back ran over a yellow jacket’s next with the lawn ran. They attacked her. She jumped in a pool to escape, but later died at the hospital from the stings.

Here is a tip. If you have an aluminum or fiberglass extension ladder with hollow rungs fill them with spray foam. Nothing like getting twenty foot up a ladder and having the little shits take target practice on you. Got stung twice in the nose on one occasion. I looked like W.C. Fields. They love to nest in those rungs.
