2024 Kentucky Woodgas Meetup

He’s not going great. Been busy trying to get him a wheelchair from the veterans affairs office. They were supposed to have it ordered well over a month and a half ago, but I found out it was only ordered a week ago so it will be about month at minimum to get it.

his teeth have gotten so worn down that he can’t eat anything other than soft food. But he refuses to go to the dentist before he gets his new wheelchair. The one he has caused him too much pain. He can’t set up for any more that a few minutes at a time before he’s in a lot of pain.

Thomas I’ll be praying for you and your dad. I hope the wheelchair arrives sooner than expected so you can get him to a dentist comfortably.

Looking for the sign up sheet for this years 2024 wood gas event in Whitney City, Kentucky. June 13,14,15.?

Its kinda soon for a formal sign-up list. You have to wait until closer to the event. Many have not figured out yet if they will be able to come. Build enthusiasm too soon, and the enthusiasm will wane when we need it most. A new venue brings new challenges for folks. Expect to see new faces and some old friends unable to make the trip. :cowboy_hat_face:

Okay , it looks like it is going to happen for Dana and I, yes Dana too. With all the family and friends we have in the south. We are planning on more then just the wood gas event this year. It is 4 days driving down and 4 days back home, the way we like driving, not driving more than 10 hour days. 10 days of visiting the beautiful South. This is of course all YEHOVAH willing, in Yeshua name.

Wayne, If they have not been claimed, I’d be interested. I finally got a truck and am starting to gather supplies.

Thank you

just to make sure i have this here as well so that it isnt missed

i just got off the phone with the fairgrounds manager just making 100% sure, the dates i had listed are still set. ill be getting together with a few insurance companies in the next week or so to see about getting insurance pricing. but she says that the days are set and she wont do anything else with them unless i tell her to take it off

Good to hear this ThomasF.
Out here Far-West it costs an average of ~$640. to insure a get-together such as this.
Different State. Different insurance regulated area of course.

So you did not win the truck and chunker system in the vote. No matter. Some of us really liking your efforts in addition to sending money for those to be moved have sent money for your efforts too.
When you do get a firm price for the event insurance ask Admin Chris Seanz.
Best Regards
Steve Unruh

Thanks for the kind words bud. I’m not worried about it, and I don’t see it as a loss. The Lord just didn’t have it in the cards for me. Cody is a good guy and absolutely deserved a win. I’m more than happy that it will go to someone who appreciate it.

Thomas, Thanks for all of your work on this!
For insurance purposes, we always treated the meetup as just that. A meeting of friends and family, more like a family reunion. My insurance agent said, as long as we are not selling anything, no alcohol allowed or sold, no tickets sold to the public, no “Circus Posters” drawing in the public, It is easy to insure. If you make it into a commercial venture, that changes everything. Please keep it low-key family-friendly curious onlookers word-of-mouth encouraged but not pulled-in with advertising.

NICE wood gas location and campground with showers-i am planning to make the trip this year, not 100% sure yet i can make it, though it will be more than worth it meeting the wood gas engine enthiusiest, and reunions again. Looks like places to get shade if needed, I like the time of the year, and the bible beleiving type people that are with this wood gas group.

i might give them a ring. i have had one underwrite finally get back with me and tell me theyll insure it. but under the stipulation that no one starts, runs, or even puts a key in ANY of the vehicles.

told the lady that was an insane thing to ask. because these arent some antique road show displays. theyre peoples actual vehicles. im sure ill find someone, and i was also certain that there was going to be at least a few flops while finding someone, but their request made me actually burst out laughing.

I ask my state farm agent if he would insure the wood burner in my truck for theft, he choose not to answer and said my home insurence policy should cover that, mybe i worded the Questain a little wrong, not sure, I never said it was built into the truck,I probley should have said that i carry one around to show for sale, might be a better way to get it added a little easier, they are all afraid of having a wood burner a few feet away from a fuel tank, in my case. THEY propley watch too many of them holywood explosion movies.
