BIOCHAR The Science Behind It

Flash pyrolysis is my guess.

They are pelletizing field residue to burn in a boiler system. It is probably a simpler system.

Since I just pulled this up on accident. This might be of interest. It is rapeseed/canola.

Es bueno ver que sigues trabajando, Abner

Paul S. Anderson Dr tlud
I was forced to use term Biochar when I wanted to discuss the matter Tera Pertra . I see the term Biochar as a tool for creation of uncertainty and confusion and to let the exact opposite prevail other then what is intended . Today I saw many tons of black mater being deposited on the fields of recently harvested conventional corn and soy . If it maintains the additions for fertility to produce a better corp it makes sense .
To produce a soil that is permanently fertile is not what is being done , but can be done with intensive processing and not in the ground .

What about dietary addition of charcoal fines to animal feed as carbon sequestration ?

Actually if it was accidental, it was pretty genius. By rebranding it, it popularized charcoal as a cool sounding soil amendment in the “greenie” space. Back in the 70s, the “greenies” went after the forestry industry, and part of that was charcoal for potting soil amendments. So they switched to vermiculite and perlite, which helped the mining lobby. The mining lobby, had long gone after Charcoal as a fuel, because they mine coal so it was called poor man’s coal. ie you were too poor to buy coal which is their way to insult you for not using their product.

By rebranding it as biochar, with benefits to the soil, the backlash shrinks.

That’s been studied, apparently it works quite well. Cattle like eating char, (Wayne reports this), and it has been shown to significantly reduce methane production in digestion. I don’t know of a study that confirms, but I would guess less methane out of the cow means better efficiency of feed conversion.

At any rate, if you want the char innoculated, I can’t imagine a better way.

Henry,

Biochar in cattle feed makes them gain weight faster and emit less methane!

There’s a great chapter about these uses in Viet Nam (where it is legal) in the Geotherapy book!
E book is $50 hard cover $100 think I will pass on getting book

I think it is now again legal to feed cattle Activated nonsynthetic charcoal

Like I am replying with a reply to what someone else said to me regarding same subject

The is some stricter rules on what constitutes activated charcoal. Mostly driven by the oil or ng industry as they could control the pore sizes better.

Yet they use charcoal for drug overdoses

You haven’t been on the Dark Side long enough to see how addicting it is.

I have like 50 pounds of charcoal fines , soot . I use charcoal produced from gasification of wood chips in filter stack .
I can not use charcoal fines . for filter I just hold on to them . It could be considered activated nonsynthetic charcoal under USDA National Organic Program . Charcoal produced by black smith would have more tar and would not be suitable for cooking BBQ . A research assistant produces biochar in an entirely closed vessel with electric heat . He complained the stuff killed every thing it came in contact with . It was the method He was required to use .

Abner, after reading Patrick’s report on his move to Australia, it made me wonder how you all are doing there in Venezuela. I have heard a few reports from some friends I knew there before. It seems to be coming unraveled completely. I understand if you can’t or don’t want to talk about it. Just want you to know that we are still thinking about and praying for you all.

Good evening Billy,
thanks, thousand thanks for your thoughts and prayers. It´s not that I don´t want to speak about it, it´s that I think that, if I do, I´ll be brakeing the rules of this chat or group. But, sense I have been asked for, I will try to explain it short.
We are suffering from the last social experiment of the XX century. A type of disguised COMUNISM that was baptised has “Socialism of the XXI Century”. It´s just COMUNISM at its whole just like marx (minuses on pourpuse) wrote it. Just so you can have an idea: we, a country floating on oil and gas reserves, DONT HAVE GASOLINE, no domestic or industrial gas, power fails ars for days and routines, no spare parts, no new vehicles, no medicines, no food, no water or it comes and goes. Every thing you have to do, you have make a row They want you to filiate to the regime´s party and give you an electronic ID card called The Patriots Card, and if you dont have it, you cant buy goods on the market and have to buy in the black market. There´s no currency because inflation is so high, that by the time new currency comes in, the value of it is thousand times less, inflation is around 4.000.000 % (yes, MILLIONS). I had to close my 3 offices and came to stay in the farm, it´s to difficult and expensive for the people to pay. Every thing is charged in blak market dollars (with a diffential from 150 official to 550 - 600 today when I write. We an oil producer country are importing gasoline and you have to make hours or days of rows of cars of kilometers some times, to fill your tank and ITS FREE! the cost is so low (absurd). It´s the only thing cheap (and our life, that is worth CERO). Hospitals are just mere deposits of human beings in pain and doctors have nothing or little to do because there are no medicines, resources or equipement failures, around 40.000 doctors have left the country. This year, my sister and my brother in law were murdered in their homes by burglers. 9 of my 11 children live outside the country and several are now citizens of other countries, I do not know my grandchildren in person, only pictures. We have to come home before sundown to minimize risks. Commerce closes around 4 pm and there are no more 24/7 stores. In my case has a medical doctor with 3 specialisations and other of my collegues, we have to charge in US currency and the exange rate of the inmediate time because, next day it´s worth 5% less. In resume: A TOTAL DISASTER. There is humanitary help held in Colombia by the UN, because the regime doesn´t permit it to enter the country because everything is cataloged has “FAKE NEWS and in Venezuela everything is 100% fine”. 5 MILLION people have fleed the country. This a resume there is more, much more. I still hace hope that a new liberation movement can start, buy we need the help pf tha UN Blue Helmets for abaout 5 years. Army, Navy, Air Force, National Guard and Police are totaly corrupted. Ok, this was the short version. I appologize if I have broken the rules. With all hat said, my wife, 2 daughters and 2 granchildren and I, stll remain to protect and keep the farm and one remainig medical office that is 400 miles far from the the farm. I wish you all a very happy day.

That sounds terrible. I wish you well. It sounds like you need to grow medicinal herbs on your farm, as you are being forced to practice holistic medicine.

We have the “fake news” bug in the US now as well.

Abner, my heart hurts with your pain. I heard it was bad down there in your country, but hearing from you confirms what I have heard. Our fake news keeps the truth from us all. Continuing prayers for you, family and loves ones. In Jesus Name.
