In the Keith Gasifier, how far up from the fire tube does the “charring region” extend up into the hopper? In other words, how short could the hopper be and still have the gasifier function properly for 5 minutes before running out of fuel.

The reason I ask is that I am curious how short the overall unit could be if it was frequently refueled, or fed by some automatic feed system?

Hello Kyle,

The charring of the fuel should start about nozzle level as long as there is a pull on the gasifier.
When the unit is shut down just after use there might be some charring a couple of inches upward.
