dave, how is the fuel situation in your country?
have you a gasified car?
They may or may not. In Australia, they may. You only started with a 28 day supply of oil. NATO or g7 countries were supposed to build out a 60 or 90 day supply, 15 years ago.
Its a bit crazy over here in Australia we had an immediate price hike within 2 weeks of the war , Diesel shot up to over $3.40 a litre petrol around $3.10 i think , so everyone up in arm’s screaming at the government to do something so they dropped 30 cents off the duty of fuel for 3 months .
I have a 4 litre Hilux truck that if push comes to shove it could be gasified ,my biggest problem is living half way up a mountain ,its very easy getting down to the shops ,not so easy getting back up , i stay at home nearly all the time these days , i run my tractor and small engines on used cooking oil ,i have about 600 litre’s left so should keep the lights on and me moving around a while , i still get the 3 hours a day free electricity and that charges up all my battery banks ,i pay next to nothing apart from a daily supply charge to the power company and not had to start a generator up for just over a year
Dave
Yes Mike that was the main reason why i posted it , i did notice 1 comment mention Wayne Keith , but most of them on there were not really informed on the history of wood gas and giving out wrong info on what you can and cant do .

Dave, I expect you’ll see some new woodgas builds near you. We’ve sold a surprising number of books to Australia, about half a dozen just since this thing started. Book sales are already higher than all of last year.
We’re also getting a lot of new members signing up, so everyone try to be welcoming and prepare for the onslaught of newbie questions.
hope you sell more books, so you can buy a old gasoline/petrol tractor as woodgas candidate…the time is running since the dollar (and also our european money) fails…
3 days before my 74 birthday gas price was $5.09 a gallon. One day before my birthday gas was up to $5.39 a gallon. For my birthday April 30th , happy birthday Bob, gas was at 5.69 a gallon. The last time it was this high was in 2009. The new gas taxes have kicked in for Washington state, we still have the summer vacation price gouging to come mybe next week. In the state of Idaho next to us. Gas prices are 3.35 last month. SWEM I am on the road again.
If it makes you feel any better, they’re a dollar higher now
.
I do hope so Chris , since Brian’s passing we have lost our men’s shed where the few of us with a interest in gasification used to meet every week , so it would be great if there were local people close or far from us here in south east , Victoria area , or even other states the more the merrier .
Dave
Happy belated birthday mr Bob ![]()
Happy birthday, Bob. What a birthday present - more DOW for you with the higher fuel prices ![]()
So far only 20% up here since you started shooting. I have my birthday coming up in a couple months. Se if I have to adjust my chunkbag pricetags by then.
I see you are still a youngster Mr. Bob .
Hope you have a great birthday. ![]()
You are missing the closed refineries in California. They wanted some extra equipment added for like carbon capture, and in 2 of them, they didn’t have enough physical space to add it, and only gave them like a year to do it which isn’t enough lead time. The whole west coast is short on gas until pipelines get built. There are 3 of them being built, but they also will take like 3 years to complete.
We have a gas pipe line into Moses Lake with big storeage tanks just 50 miles east of us from Billings Montana gas refinery and oil fields. They built it in the 50’s back when Larson Air Force Base with B-52 were stationed there. Air Force Base is long gone now after the 70’s. But the gas tanks are still there and shipping fuel.
With the refinery shortages ongoing are they shipping some of that fuel further west now? Billings has two refineries that supply 10% of washington states fuel mainly eastern washington. And I thought they were shipping fuel from oregon into california because of the refinery shortages.
When you get to the southwest, the pipelines were supply new mexico and arizona from california, but they are going to reverse the flow of the pipeline and extend it to like oklahoma or texas to supply it to get fuel to california.
It reminds me of when california banned coal plants in the 70s, and they built new ones in like new mexico and just imported that electric.
