Colder ?
when I was young 30C/86F was extreme and only happening once in a few years. Now this is normal for a week and a few weeks ago we hit 40C/104F.

The land yachts were nice smooth rides with limo like passenger space and plenty of space for Jimmy Hoffa in the trunk. The gas bill always scared me away from one. Woodgas would be good. While I would miss the v8, an electric conversion would work for me as well.

If it makes you feel any better, we hit 100+F last week 
I remember weather like this when I was a kid in the 70s. Even the lack of snow for xmas, and we also had a massive blizzard with electric that was out for 3 weeks and a few years of snow with enough to make igloos by digging out snowbanks. They forget all the rest of the disappointing years with not enough snow.

And presented some immature behavior again, tried being an adult for half a year. Bought this electric thing. Bought a container and transported it by myself . Max 55 km/h, 35 mph. What a weekend. The old red Timan had to go. More broken down then working. Bah, Kubota. It is not easy to break one, but starting

Our shop is to small and renting (very very dirthy word, sorry) 24 km 15 miles away. Now on our own land. And electric, no noise and free charge. And a lot stronger.
Ok. Back to trying being adult again.
And build this on a saterday. Now for stones, hopefully woodchips in some future. Nice try, doing a great job.

That is the plan . It was irresponsible bought, but at least the repair is off my shoulder. Now off to bed. I have been behind the screen since 7.30 this morning. It is 22.30 now. Lots of CAD off my shoulder too.

I’ve been wondering about you Bruce. We are only getting a moderate amount of smoke but I saw the map for your area. That’s bad. We have had smoke from these Canadian fires before but it never smelled this bad or was the sky this weird orange-ish, yellow color. Smells like chemicals. Doesn’t seem to affect the appetite of the deer flies though.

Sad to see no one is posting much. Us old guys rely on finding out what going on from people who actually do stuff. 
Yep. We are still getting smoked out. Mid-morning and it looks like twi-light out side. I had to go to the garden and fertilize today. Between the earlier heat and humidity and now the wildfires I have neglected it for to long. Everything looks good. Maybe the weird chemical smell in the smoke is actually beneficial for plants. Me. Not so much.

Tom, there’s not much to report from up here. My left foot got red and swollen last weekend. To the point I couldn’t use it for a couple days. I had an x-ray and they ruled out broken bones and blod clots.
So, partially because of that and also because we’ve had high temperatures this week, 32C (90F), I haven’t been milling much. Only the last 4 logs on my pile. Next is bringing the tractor to fill it up.
Bagged a trailer of chunks, mowed the lawn and took a proper bath in the river today. I’ll be watering potatoes, tomatoes and peas before bed time. Tomorrow a work week of 12h shifts starts. Rain and 14C (57G) is forcasted. Hard to blieve right now.
Still DOWing almost every day. Should have done a cleanout, but I’ll save it for later.

Tom, bad news that smoke i tried looking up but dont know where you guys are. Bruce is looking mean this way and Bill seems to be closer to the misery?
Here happens a lot, only not woodgas related or anything with my projects. Woodburner is off now, showers are from natural gas . Two 9 kW heater elements waiting to get installed in the buffer. Simply no time left. I am happy when it is getting dark and can go to sleep. Pile of pallets is growing, tomorrow free electricity so if there is any free time I will trow it all in the shredder. We need room for our next build.

If you looked at a map of Michigan, Joep, it would look like a mitten with a little finger and a thumb. I am in the little finger. Bruce is way north surrounded by lake Superior and I’m surrounded by lake Michigan.

The fires are all over in Canada but the wind currents are carrying it east and south. I think the major fire carrying most of that smoke is from the Canadian province closest to Michigan and Minnesota. My friends in Virginia are seeing the effects of it, too. This is in Northern Virginia:

Lynchburg is closer to Steve Bowman than to me, I live in the southern edge of North Carolina but I can smell it. I’m sure tomorrow will be hazy.

I hear you, TomH, and i agree, not much posting here lately, always nice to read how lifes goes on amongst us woodgas friends.
So, heres my contribution:, im in my second week of four weeks of work, lots of stuff to do at home, and helping friends with their stuff… shouldnt this be vacation? Working more than ever… and it’s hot! 95°F today, more than i can handle.
Well, i have atleast snapped some pic’s from time to time, just don’t had the time to post them, so heres a “show and tell” story, in no particular order..
I spent some time sharpening my favourite scythe, got it sharp enough to shave the hair from my arm. First strike i hit a ant nest and broke it.
Good thing i had some spares.
When doing some easy-work, for hot days, i’ve been running the “slicer” in the background, it does it’s work, slow and silent, just need to feed it some thin stuff from time to time.
Some of the “light-work”, stripping the paint from a motorcycle gas tank (super-boring) and hot enough for the paint to harden if i aint fast enough after paint stripper has worked.
Grinding,and sharpening axes are more fun, and giving them new handles.
My fuel supply is bigger than ever, here is just half of it, mostly bridging free, super fuel from the slicer.
Even my goldfish in the pond thinks it’s too hot.
Rain forecasted this weekend, gives me time in the shop, to get some work done on gasifiers.
Need to use the plasma to cut around 100 holes in the new grate.
Well, there is some of whats going on, amongst fixing chainsaws, restore our campervan, moving lawn, bring home more projects, (like i need more) ,garden work, yes thats some of it, more reports will come

From what I hear the fires are pretty bad in Ontario right now. Thankfully we aren’t see a lot of smoke here. Only a couple days with a bit of a haze. I hope they have been getting as much rain as we have had. Any more rain and Manitoba will be one big lake.
