Life goes on - Winter 2014

Michael, the pulley’s not there but the geared shaft is. I was thinking of a conveyor, in the future of course. I have enough projects in front of me. I will be happy just to be able to process wood.
I should be able to load a couple of these up to take to Argos if anyone needs.

You work bill, ITS ZERO again this morning,MI, still only got about 2" of snow here , dodged most the snow so far.Would not want too live in the North East with all the snow they get.

Hey Michael.

Hoping you made it through the blizzard OK

My side of the state got 5", western Ct. got 30". Dodged the bullet on that one. Only the second snowfall this season. So far we’re getting off easy.

Our turn for a blizzard … Hope the power stays on for the folks that need it … My wind turbine is going nuts and I can’t even hear it here. The country roads must be tough right now … Stupor Bowl Sunday … The snow has been horizontal since last night … Herb is probably hunkering down. Fun Fun … Mike L

Across my driveway got to try getting to work to start moving this crap. Wind blowing but snow let up. Stay wsrm

and I’m sitting in a damn hospital bed until Tuesday with a stomach infection. Talk about a helpless feeling. I’ll have to depend on friends to get my long driveway cleared.

Hope you get well soon ,

I have never shoveled or plowed any snow but if I were closer I would volunteer to learn and help with the drive way .

Hi Mike B, Maybe you sucked in some of that creek water in Kansas :o) … I sure hope you recover !!! Mike L

That’s what makes this site so great. Faraway friends that will help you any way they can.

Hi Wayne & Mike B, BTW, This storm is bigger than the one that triggered that northeaster … Wayne, How many inches of mud do you have by the shed and barn ??? Looks like the first batch of rain went by today but there is a second band headed … LUV, Mikey … The snow is still horizontal here … I talked with Herb an hour or two ago … It’s the same there … I think he had around 10 inches … He’s doing well …

Hey Mike ,

It’s not too muddy right now but if the rain keeps up it will be soon .

On another note . You mention the woodgas gathering in Kansas

I found the video that Chris Seymour made

What a fun weekend but with a sad twist of being 3 days after the tornado ripped through Joplin. When I flew out to go home it was surreal to see a path of destruction so wide. It was like all the color was erased from the landscape and replaced with brown garbage. Living in New England that was unbelievable to see.

Click your heals :o) … I had breakfast in Greensburg Kansas in 2005 and a month later the west side of town was flattened … I went through there next trip and they hadn’t rebuilt yet … I haven’t been back to Wayne’s test strip since it was flattened … Tornados are really a pain in the :o) … They just happen and you hope things stay together … I’ve done the duck and cover many times … I stayed out of Joplin and was glad I reserved a room with all the carpet baggers that showed up … ML

Just got my release papers. They’re letting me out in the middle of a snow storm. Fine with me. Get to go home and dig out. I don’t thing I’ve ever been so happy to shovel snow. Thanks again for the support.

Hey Mikey, does that mean you are going to let up posting on DOW a little? I was really enjoying hearing from you lately.

Mike B, My folks on Long Island are getting it now too … Keep er between the ditches … ML

PS, we often get some thunderstorms before Valentine’s Day … Might knock down these 3 foot drifts so I can drive off the road again … ML

You’re right, I’m such a lurker. I promise I will try to contribute more since I do get so much out of this group.

Heading down to New Mexico to visit my Dad. Timed it just right to make it in the snow storm in Iowa and Nebraska. Hundreds of vehicles in the ditches. On I 35 and I 80 it was at least 2-300 vehicles. The only time I was white knuckle driving was when near other cars or semis. All it takes is someone to over compensate and everyone behind can fall victim. Made it through fine and even found some 45° weather in Kansas.
