And the French Rilletes. I make it after slaughter day, take all the trimings, silverskins… and add enaugh rendered fat to submerge. Then set on a far end of the woodstove to cook just before boiling for at least 12h. Season with salt, pepper and majoram. In this time, all but the meat fibres disolve and when it gets cooler the broth and fat can be stirred together in a incredible spread.
A similar one is our Zaska. 2 variants exist, one is made by curing, drying and smoking strips of pig fat, then grind them to a spread.
Second is to cure and slow roast the pig fat and grind to a spread. Hybrids of the two also exist, its what l do
Department of fish and wildlife gave us a few more clam digs crappy tides and super windy but we eeked out a few and went home with 20. Tomorrow dinner will be fried fresh razor clams and a few fried oysters from earlier this year that i stowed away in the freezer and still have enough left for a pot of chowder.
You made me so hungry I made a batch of baked beans with enough pork trimmings and baking mollases to make my partner refuse to eat more than half a bowl. More for me. My grandparents would be happy…
Its a national holyday today so we went a litle seight seeing. We set our curse to the south, to Tone’s neck of the woods.
We visited a hot spring, and the water was quite nice actualy. Its not realy hot but swiming pool warm, even in this cold weather. Has a nice smell too, it smells like depth. Wery mineraly, but not unpleasant.
Across the creek are 2 caves, one 500m long but submerged (it so has a hot spring) and one 200m long, but we left exploring them for a nother day.
I failed to zoom in on the bubbles coming up from the bottom of the spring together with the warm water.
Felt real good to swim in it, surrounded by ice and cold. But the geting dressed part was a bit tricky we “picked” probably the coldest day this winter for this
Such biutifull country you have in your neck of the woods,God is better than good.Thats a perfect little ger away vacation. Nice place there at the house location, I envy living out in the sticks that far out, I would like too sell my place and get more land, I would probley wear out before i got it all ironed out like fixed up like mine would need fixing too. You got your hands full getting caught up on your new home,It should be worth it though. Thanks for sharing your new fix up/build- offgrid farm life.
Enjoyment went down with age pic says it all. Oldest one went crazy and even sugested we take a bath in the main creek (its about at 0C…), daughter kinda liked it and the youngest son was like “naah, l got better stuff to do thain this crap”
The powers that be know we will comply. They proved that with the mask mandates. They also know that your neighbors will rat you out if you seem to operate out of the herd. During the scamdemic I had people thinking they were going to give me shit for walking down the store aisle the wrong way or not standing on the sticker on the floor that marked the magical six foot distance. Nobody cared if your freaking mask was a bandana pulled up over your nose because the government assured them it would be enough to stop a virus. Of course part of the plandemic was to kill off a lot of population but mainly it was to prove to the PTB that their efforts had bore fruit and nearly everybody could be programmed to take the mark of the beast. These people don’t rush into anything. Incrementally over decades they have been moving the pieces around the board slowly but surely implementing more and more restrictions until we now believe resistance is futile. The WEF makes no secret about it’s trans-human agenda and if you think DARPA gave Eon Mush a fat basket of bucks to develop Neural-link for the benefit of the paralyzed then wipe the drool off your chin because you are a moron.
