Every time I see a late 00s Ranger it reminds me of how bad Ford screwed up with the next gens. They took a handy sized pickup and made it as big as a 90s F150.

Yes, Cody. It used to be the simplest, most affordable truck you could buy. I bought a brand new 1992, before the Mazda joint venture, and then the Mazda / Ford were also good. my brother had 2 of those. Rust belt problems aside, they were great little trucks. My brother just got a late model Ranger. It is really nice! Not an economy truck at all, though. More of a “lets take a nice long Weekend drive and bring back some antiques” kind of truck! :innocent:

The demand for a smaller pick-ups caused Ford to come out with the Maverick truck this year.

On the the latest news story I saw, the Maverick looked very similar to my brother’s “new” Ranger. The news was Ford will soon stop taking orders for new ones. I’m guessing they have more orders than they can fill.

What the Hell is a Maverick?? I have heard the term a couple of times but never seen an add for one from Ford. TomC

The Maverick truck is Ford’s new compact truck. It is a hybrid. The Ford Ranger is now bigger and a mid-sized truck. Think Toyota Tundras. Do you remember when a Maverick was a compact car?

They do sell a non hybrid version, I personally don’t like it because of the unibody design.

Oh yes Paul, I remember the Ford Maverick cars back in maybe the 60’s. Our local Ford dealer traded a new Maverick for an old ladies cherry '32 tudoor Ford even up. TomC

I had a 73 maverick, factory inline 6 auto. Very torque motor did great burnouts, even with 31x10.5 bfg all terrains on it  swapped a grabber edition hood onto it with the mach 1 style scoop was a fun car for the 200$ I paid for it

The local car lot has one, it is smaller than the new Rangers. It is built on the Escape platform. It come fwd hybrid, or awd with a 2.5 ecoboost.

Got the old JD in the shop, engine(2cyl. gasoline) was locked. I mixed atf, acetone, marvel oil, and kroil. Got it freed up today. Now to see if it will run.

IV used atf and acetone, and atf and diesel. Thought about using kroil, just haven’t had a chance to try

Once you start using Kano Kroil everyone will know about it!! Overdo; and the wife will make you sleep outside and burn your clothing.
