It affected: 1973-87 General Motors C and K model trucks with side saddle tanks located outside of the frame rails beneath the passenger’s and driver’s doors.
the explosions were fake news, but the tanks did leak on impact, and there was a risk of fire. It looks like they ‘solved it’ by putting plastic liners in the tanks, which also probably aides in the tanks not rusting out as well.
Steady 4-10,000$ here for a C10, the k series 4wd are going the same, 3/4 and one tons a year ago were 500-1000$ running and driving. They skyrocketed in price, now 3-4000$ most with no cab corners, rocker panels, bed floors, and a folded hood
Sounds like you already have the gasifier Kyle, or at least some of it. Care to share? Anxiously awaiting your turbo conversion to WG. Try not to mess up that fine patina paint job on that truck. Some how many of us have gone insane and think it’s something special. Imagine me pretending to stick my finger down my throat. Though some years ago I did see a truck on some TV show where the owner stripped it to bare metal, acid etched it to form a even coat of surface rust and then clear coated it. It did look good.
And if you would drive them off a cliff they would explode. But not like the rear end collision ford pinto of the 70’s. It was a fire ready to happen.

If you look around I think you can find the gasifier I built. It’s called “All stainless imbert” thread. More like a bigger Ben Peterson style with some Wayne Keith’s hearth inspiration. I need to get updated photos by the looks of these…
Hard too beleive how they nbc and main stream news brush off a pack of lies, and get away with it. REFFERING too the vidio they lied about old chevy truck gas tanks exploding,/ while not adding that they put incinery device under the truck , 5 parragraphs back.
Mitey fine looking gasifier system build you have there indeed. Looks like it will work really good and last a long time.
Finally a Lister without work. The boys picked it up in Friesland yesterday. Your roots Rindert!
Those just have the coolest sound. I wanted one ever since I heard one at a show but they are not common here.
Here the same. Then you have none, then you have two.
And I have to go to Belgium for a CS-1
Closest machine we have to that sound is old (1940-1960-ish) John Deere 2-cyl. tractor engine.
For the same reason Identical firing pattern on the Johny popper
Yup but those old JD will shake you out of the seat…
When the engine went on my old gas allis Chalmers D17 I almost bought w 4 cylinder diesel lister to replace it because I couldn’t find a crank shaft anywhere. But then I found one I forgot where but I had called every supplier in the USA at the time or almost. A week later when I went onto the unofficial allis forum someone else commented they needed one and someone posted I just shipped out the last one to someone in NH. I replied yes it just got here and I will have it installed tomorrow just in time for haying. That was a few years ago. But I was literally one phone call from replacing it with a 4 cylinder lister motor and trying to figure out the adaptor because that diesel was the only one I felt would do it Justice. They are really nice engines that run forever.
I kept driving by the dumpster at Calumet Machine. I kept seeing these sticking out. I kept saying to myself, let someone more ambitious realize their value and rescue them from the scrap man.
My intuition keep nagging me. Finally, I went over there in a snow storm and bought them for scrap price.
No! I don’t have a clue what I am going to do with them. You are welcome to post your suggestions.
I was thinking drive shafting, or muffler pipe.
What size are they? Nice find
Gasifier cooling tubes. Tiny gasifier firetube. Small tank for condensate. Crushing rollers for charcoal trommel. End rollers for a conveyor belt. Moving heavy objects using Egyptian methods. I would say welding practice but you have had plenty of that! Slip roll machine for light metals. My brain is a scary place…Wheel treads for homemade railway cars (Tim at Way-out West Blow-in Blog).
I forgot cyclone filter bodies.
Mike, dont do that. Bruce has to go back now, for more pipes.
Oh no, I got them all first go.
