I just received the replacement catalytic converter hood for my soapstone stove. The instructions say just place the calylitst loose In the hood but it is really loose i am wondering if I should place some stove insulation rope on one side to fill the gap. See the two photos for with and without rope.

I was thinking the same thing because as it heats up and expands thing should only get looser. I just wanted a second opinion and know people in here have more experience building things that burn wood than I do…
