New S10 problem

Do you use salt on your roads in the winter time?

Yes we have salt on the roads here, some streets in cities you are not allowed to use studded tires, wears out the roads and leaves particles in the air.

There was a little rust on this car too, it looked pretty good from the outside, but replaced a front fender and made a new fender edge on the right rear and repaired half of the fender edge on the left rear.
Now I have to make new beams under the bed, there are none left of these, but how do I turn the bed without damaging it?
Is there any other way than to tilt it towards the cab?

If the bed in the picture is the one you did the repairs on it looks great, I didn’t understand about turning the bed without damaging it. but I have removed them by slapping together a wood frame over the bed and lifting it with ratchet straps. I think you have a tractor with a loader though. I don’t know anyway to test a fuel pump but I have had a few go out on me and it’s always a Pain in the ass. For 50 bucks I’d consider swapping it while the bed is off.

That was a good idea, I actually have a new motor for the pump on the shelf, thanks.

Yes, very good idea!
When i had an s10 Chevrolet, i cut a “inspection hatch” in the bed floor when i replaced the in-tank pump.
And, nothing left of the lid and “nut” on the tank but rust- become a piece of sheet metal, 8 self-tapping screws, and lots of “sika liquid weld”.

New beams and parts of the bed, and now linseed oil everywhere, let’s see if it works.

Jan, what do you use these tools for?

Don’t you play golf, Don?
A good sport for a pensioner.
We have a golf course on a waste heap from the Grängesberg mines, so it’s not that expensive to join, and more fun than just walking.

I did a few times when I was in the army at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri in the 1960’s and I had a few used clubs later that my son in law “borrowed” that I never saw again. I would rather play with real tools. Now that I am old and can hardly stand up while putting my underwear on without falling over I dont think it would be much fun hitting little white balls in the weeds. :grinning:

I read somewhere that if you can still stand on one leg for something like 15 seconds that you are probably not going to die tomorrow so I stand there every morning concentrating like hell on that simple task while I struggle to get one leg in the pant leg. When I was young I used to sit down to get into my pants.

God made glow in the dark golf balls just for you! You can’t emulate our success because we used to run from the night groundskeeper. However, you can find the stupid ball -anywhere-. We never lost one. Wheat field walked over to it. tall weeds, no problem. Brush, no problem except poison ivy. Water? you could see it!

I always hit par with those! with the white balls I hit like -9 or so…

Now, I do have to explain I use the alternate scoring system. It is how many balls you gain or lose. On a good day, you are like +5…

Today I was very happy and surprised my red S10 passed the inspection.

I was thinking about making an aggregate for the new s10, but haven’t decided whether it should run on gas or be sold.
I can use the aggregate for the generator otherwise.
The dimensions are roughly the same as I have now in the old s10, if I remember correctly, just a little further down to the grate, do you see anything that seems wrong?

I’ll have to show it when it’s almost finished, took a picture from a little further away so you can’t see my welds and how simple it is.
Now the question is what I’m going to use for the wood container and the filter, I’ve found some garbage cans with lids that I’m considering, but I’m not sure if I can get the lids to seal.

JanA., a simple at 90 degrees rim skip welded to the lids outer edge will form a channel to hold a silicone impregnated rope seal.
This will also stiffen the lid greatly.
The weld does not have to be air tight.
Skip welding will prevent the lid from welding heat warping. Use lots of clamping down to the pot edge when welding.

Is this gasifier for your red S10, Jan?

I think so, or on the big generator, haven’t really decided yet, haven’t checked how I can connect it to the engine on the red one, it’s a TBI on it.
