Hey Morgan, you have come to the right place. I would also suggest you read some of the threads on here - specifically about running charcoal. It is hands down the easiest place to start out on the woodgas adventure, and it is well suited to small setups. You do have to put some work into making the char, but you will find that it ends up being easier to do on a small scale than making chunks of wood.
If you read some threads and start asking questions, this group will amaze you with their knowledge and willingness to help you succeed. Keep us posted!
Here is a quick reading list:

[Making Charcoal]
Got a visit from the local code enforcement official yesterday. Apparently a new neighbor (a fire chief of a neighboring town) called them to report an illegal fire. I had made a batch of charcoal using the Gilmore system, and it made quite a bit of smoke for the first 10-15. After that there was no smoke, but in that short time I managed to get his attention. The code enforcement guy was cool about it, and just told me to stop.
I looked it up, and open fires are illegal in my town, but I d…
I have been putting off making a good charcoal grinder for a long time, as I did not have a way to weld the heavy steel parts used on a Gilmore rotary grinder. I tried a lot of other ideas, and I had no luck. With a new welder, I was finally able to give it a go, and it works great! Here is a quick video

I am going to eventually mount it up higher with an angled hardware cloth chute to sort out the fines. It runs on a 1/2 hp motor that only draws about 130 watts whe…
Yup, trying again…
This time, let us try to stay on topic only, links to the old thread/nozzles only
Kicking of with a new idea: using fire bricks to shape them into a nozzle ( using this idea for the large boiler gasifier )
Drilled a 2"1/2 and a few small ones…
No cracks during the drilling, tomorrow putting the block in the oven…

Alright, all this talk about Argos 2019 has me feeling like I need to get a project going so that if I were to make it, I would have something to talk to you all about!
I have decided to charcoal gassify a little dinky 2k generator set I picked up on craigslist. It ran fine on gasoline, and had plenty of juice to run my backup battery charger for my off-grid batteries.
On my last project I was having trouble keeping a flare going, so I am going to really try and be more on top of air leaks. I …
I am working along on my V-10 project.
But it has recently come to my attention that I should also consider building a gasifier to run a generator to charge my battery bank when solar charging is insufficient.
I notice that many people build charcoal gasifiers to power smaller engines.
Is it practical to use a WK style gasifier to power a medium sized generator (say 5000 watts).
Could the same gassifier design be used, simply with a smaller restriction plate?
Or would the whole thing need t…
