I see differences in several ways, are you referring to the strength marks on the bolts or the thread differences between them Tom?
I personally have never bothered to care about the differences between imperial threads and whitworth threads, except the half inch of course.
The SAE strength marks I have to look up every time I come across them, it is very seldom though.
Up to twenty inches I usually can criss cross between inches and metric without much problems if there is just a couple of measurements but when it comes to house construction and such then I’m lost, mm it is for me then.
Johan I’m actually the opposite. I’m lost when it comes to bolts and threads unless it’s mm. With dimentional lumber on the other hand I like inches the best. I have to think twice when boards are in mm.
Yes, in lumber thickness and width I use inches too as of old here but when it comes to boardfeet and making rafters and such I exclusivly use mm. Otherwise I’m afraid my head would explode
I’m just talking about what size sockets or wrenches they need, Johan. If I’m building something I buy SAE bolts. Typically there are only three common strengths. 2-5-or 8. I usually just buy #5. Actually in box stores here I find SAE are a little cheaper than Metric, for no reason I can think of.
My guess why the sae bolts are cheaper is because of the quantities box stores buy. More sae there and more mm here so I guess metric bolts are cheaper here, never compared the two in the store though. Previous generations here on the farm supplied us with sae bolts for generations to come as well through auctions and such so I never bought a sae bolt and most likely never will.
Because it would be too painful.
1st, gravity.
Then too big of a target. Too big of a stick out hazard.
My only 1 1/2" (40mm) nose had been broken three times.
At the high school girls basketball game last night our 16 y.o. tallest player with great under the board skills had her feet blocked advancing forwards. Her own momentum took her down into a hard face-plant. Squashed broken nose. Bleeding contused forehead. Concussion. Very bloody indeed.
The last two she will heal from.
It will take surgery to make her pretty again. Healed up in time for the in 3 months away Spring Prom-dance.
Without her we lost that game.
Nope. Never had mine fixed. The interior twists like a snake. Ugly Is; as ugly is. Blends in.

Twelve inches for a foot? I only have five toes and one big one that would best fit the thumb. I don’t know if the joke will work in English xD. But it’s kind of the same thing, Goran.
Yes, i suspected it don’t become the same joke in translation.
In Swedish it’s a popular old joke, if a “feet” equals 12 inches, then a 12 inch nose automatically becomes another bodypart…
I bought a combined MIG/TIG/plasma welder that I’ll receive next week.
I’m really looking forward to getting it; all I’ll need to do is pick up the gas from a local supplier.
After that, I might need to learn how to use it properly, as I only know how to weld two pieces together with an arc welder.
I’m going to create a thread for my gasifier soon because I’ll need all your advice and experience (I don’t have a title idea yet).
You’ve already helped me a lot with your comments and threads.
I haven’t gone a single day without reading for at least 30 minutes, which surprises me because I don’t really enjoy reading.
Not this time it was not me.
