Tractor with gas?

Super Tone, the only thing missing is lemmons. And you need a lot of those.

I hear some gear clashing in the beginning. Is that normal or a weak clutch?

Mr. Don, the gearbox of this tractor is not synchronized, so you have to “count” the teeth on the gears before starting, it is good to completely reduce the engine speed, then it goes easier, well, I was too hasty,…

Almost every day Fergie works hard, but in return he only gets lower quality fuel, lots of small twigs, bark dust, … well, he doesn’t complain about anything, he just swallows his “food” faster.

He does heavy transports …

grinds stones ,…

He also prepared about 10 m3 of motor fuel for himself, here is 4 m3

Tu pa je zunaj cca 15 m3 manj kvalitetnega goriva

stumps, roots, mixed with small branches prepared for burning

You process your brush in the auger chipper? or do you just use a wood chipper? I hauled up about that much brush I cut last year, today to burn to make maple syrup.

tone, you make a great job with fergie and the new gasifier design…what project are you doing? do you prepare a new field for agriculture?

Giorgio, there are some fruit trees growing on this plot, which are being smothered by bushes, which have grown due to the rocky terrain and difficult cultivation. I have removed the bushes, now the stones need to be removed, the soil is fertile, it will be possible to plant quite a few fruit tree seedlings here.

Sean, for shredding branches I use a homemade screw chipper, which has become an indispensable tool for cleaning bushes and branches,…

Such a beautiful wall Tone. I would love to have stones like that to play with. I tried to find the pictures of a retaining wall you built some years back but couldn’t. This must be a different wall with the exhaust stack coming out of it. What’s behind the wall?

The tractor is hiding a beautiful door too Tom.

Today again hard work for my fergie, removing stones and bringing in soil,…

This week, Thursday and Friday, it was very windy, there was also snow, well, today the sun came out and the snow disappeared. The ground is wet and not suitable for earthworks, but the weather is good for grinding stones.
I don’t have much to report about the gasifier, it works well and stably, the water cooling of the condensation zone removes a lot of water, but there is no water in the cooler and filter.

tone, will your filter becomes too dry than?

Hello Giorgio, the filter is still moist enough and it really works well, sheep wool is a wonderful filter medium.

Since I installed the new gasifier, the tractor has done 100 working hours (now it has 607 hours on wood), that is almost 200 hours, if I were to measure time, it will be necessary to replace the sheep wool in the filter. I also need to adjust the clutch of the karan because I work with it a lot, which means that it will be necessary to dismantle the gasifier, because the adjustment is done below through the opening, which is now covered by the gasifier and filter bracket,… one afternoon of work. :slightly_smiling_face:

Sometimes things don’t go according to plan, one afternoon wasn’t enough to adjust the clutch, because I found that one of the three bolts that the thrust bearing presses on was damaged. It took a lot of effort to fix it through a narrow opening from below.
I also emptied the gasifier to check the condition, unfortunately I don’t have any pictures, well, a cone of ash had formed below, which covered the nozzles at the bottom, interestingly, the structure of this ash was fragile and like a sponge, maybe because air from the lower nozzles penetrated through this ash. I shortened the middle nozzle, so that it now supplies air to the “forbidden space” (below is a sketch). Yesterday and today the tractor worked, today I transported firewood, I left it running at idle, while I cut and loaded the firewood (half an hour) and then transported it at full power uphill.

For me, replace “sometimes” with “normally”.

Was it like it got wet? The ash will do that if it gets a bit of moisture from like a light rain or if left long enough exposure to higher humidity air. Then it might dry out like that and it is still like a crumbly cake.

Is this to try and dissipate the ash that accumulates in front of the lower nozzles?
I find that radical, you’re not holding back . But the tractor still seems to be working properly. :star_struck:
If the gas retains its calorific value despite the injection of air under restriction “the forbidden space”, then perhaps we should reconsider our certainties and propose other explanations (theories).

I will try to show my observations and ideas about what is happening with a sketch,…

You can see that there is some kind of apparent dividing line that divides the upper part of the gasifier from the lower part, where the pressure difference occurs due to the narrowing.
Previously, I had the middle nozzle higher in the higher pressure area, but now I have moved it lower in the lower pressure area, so a small amount of air will almost always enter the middle of this part. Fine charcoal mixed with ash should fairly reliably fill this part through the limiting opening, so there is no fear of “hot leaks”. If you think carefully, you can find that a void is created just below the limiting opening, hot gases certainly travel through this part, but now the lower nozzle “loosens” a little - it lifts the ash and charcoal, which remains glowing and active, so there is a greater probability of converting free oxygen or tar gases.
Advantages of this method:
-very low gasifier resistance

  • stable operation of the gasifier at very low load
    -clean gas without tar
