Would it be possible to run the WK gasifier on real lump coal? By real I mean coal that is used to power a electric turbine at a local power company. They burn the coal to super heat steam which turns a huge turbine and powers our city and other areas.
The coal comes on trains and looks like burned charcoal wood for the most part. It falls apart easily and is black all the way through.
Coal is nasty stuff. Toxic fumes, clinkers, highly acid sulfurous gases. There are industrial gasifiers designed for it. Not the Keith gasifier though.
Fortunately wood is cheaper (free) and easier to get than coal, at least in many areas.
