If you use a drum to help cool down the gas ,try filling it with small stones that certainly will help cool the gas down enough on short 2 or 3 hour runs .
You don’t want a large area filled with explosive gasses just in case you ever get a flash back or a leak in the drum

Dan,I’m following your topic. I’m glad it worked!! I made an ascending current gasifier, I’m very excited to make a descending current one now. I would like to know if it works on small engines. I don’t speak English (Google translate) I’m a little limited in the literature and I don’t find much about measurements for small gasifiers. My tests are in the realm of trial and error. Hugs.
