Went out to the sand bar and got a few oysters we have to shuck then on the beach so I slurped down a few and bagged the rest, had a pretty good wild harvest and a great day with the family
Planned to fix the blower in the Mazda but got distracted and almost finished my Huffy Ultima. Just need to add a tensioner to keep the throttle control from the chain.
The bottom bracket has a one way bearing to let the pedals free spin while the engine runs to the gears on the rear wheel. I have 6 speeds. Little Lifan 79cc engine.
Might try to figure out a way to make it taste woodgas, who knows.
Used to be an 18 speed now a 6 speed, the front derailleur is now my throttle control. Kinda reminds me of an early 1910s style Triumph with their thumb lever throttle.
I always pictured a veranda like a fancy covered porch.
Everyone that comes to the house likes to argue about which is the front or back porch. Our driveway runs to the back porch of the house, but the front porch “faces” the road if you could call 1/8th of a mile away “facing”.
I too find my self thinking about the nice times sitting on Waynes porch from time to time… Last time was about a week ago
A fox had taken a big chunk out of our hen and duck flock, and l sure could use that long barrel shotgun of his…
Hi Jan, as I see it you also have a sense of romance and fantasy, nice. Today, very few people dream, we are all just focused on business, success, results, and in our free time our TV and internet fill our brains, and we run out of time for dreams, fantasies, meditation and prayer.
On Saturday my wife and I went on a trip and visited Kristjan, it was a beautiful warm day, Kristjan is struggling with the septic tank, his neighbor Ivo is helping him, he is also working with a mini excavator. We worked a little, talked a little, drank some beer, the wife played with the children, … and some beer, … Kristjana, who came home from the night service in the morning, overcame her fatigue and fell asleep under a tree, …
Yes, it was a pleasant surprice for sure. We too “dreamed” a bit, also in relation to woodgas.
Thank you Tone for bringing us gifts and for all the help, unfortunaly the meeting was a bit compromised as we had no runing water or septic on that day, or preety much anything else, all hands on deck mean even lunch sometimes gets pushed in the evening…
And im sorry to have fallen to the effect of nightshifts and the couple of beers we had, still it was a wery pleasant day!
Hey Norman,
Your shoreline pictures sure do bring back smell memories!
Nothing like the sea-shore smell to bring back the great taste’s of your last two pictures.
Regards
Steve Unruh
Norman, those clam pictures reminded me that we still have some frozen razor clams in the fridge. Yummy!
It has been 3 years since there has been a daylight dig at Copalis beach in decent weather.
Mike I was on that last daylight dig haha
Steve some of my fondest memories have been of the ocean smell, crabbing and razor clam digging with my dad. I hope to give my boys those same memories
Been making lots of charcoal. The 1998 Dakota really loves it mixed with the hopper wood. Have more than a 55-gallon barrel full. The red 1998 Dakota with the tall gasifier always stands out. ( I sure can’t go anywhere in stealth mode like Wayne.) I made up a small information sheet for the gasifier. It is 1/4 sheet of an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet. I copied it on yellow paper so when the people get home it stands out and possibly they will read it. I have had about two dozen people come up to the truck and identify it as a gasifier. I usually get shouted at intersections “what kind of a still is that in your truck?” I will be going to the Portland, IN Tri-state Gas engine and tractor show this weekend. It’s across the state near Mike Reynolds area of the state. I am going to try to park the truck at the end of a row where everyone will pass with some signage on it. The event draws about 55,000 visitors and exhibitors a year. Guys not afraid to plunk down $ 3,000 to $7,000 for an engine project. They are good at mechanics. Not afraid to try new things to create attention to their work. These should be good guys to give the woodgas bug to. Hope to have met all the membership and liability requirements to have a wood gas lawn mower people mover for next year.
More charcoal will be used to run Matt Ryder’s M-1 gasifier to run a generator at a local car show to run a popcorn machine. Free popcorn and woodgas information. Probably will try to be in a car show or two before we get into our Fall Covered Bridge festival here,
Mom keeps buying this expensive Nature’s Own brand of bread loaves. These bags are super sturdy. I’m going to start saving these for storing engine grade charcoal for smaller units. These are like the thickness of a brand name freezer bag it’s insane.
Up-cycling, I love it. Relatives have been gifting me with broken appliances. Lots of usable stuff, wire, motors, metal, screws and etc… Already used a switch to fix another person’s device.
Also for anybody wanting to run gas on a small engine like a Honda 196cc or apparently a 10/12hp IC Briggs, these intake adapters are awesome. I used a rubber coupler to attach a 3/4" ball valve to the Briggs engine. I did have a curved adapter but I bought two of these straight ones, one to put on the Briggs and another for a Predator 212. Would really save on the carburetors for those. You can find these on eBay all day long.
Is the ball valve for gas/air mixture rplacing the carb butterfly? If so, that eliminates the governor? That would be OK for some applications but not for a generator etc. right?
