I thought a veranda was not on the ground floor…

You can also take the hulls and make an anti-parasitic tincture if you don’t have ivermectic, etc.
Will that cure the covid too?

Haha, I take it you do not have squirrels, then? Around here they will clear out a walnut tree in a weekend, and they get started long before the nuts are fully ripe. My mom has an English walnut, and she wrapped the trunk in a huge wad of bird netting, and then ran it out to the branches like a big umbrella. They can leap 6 feet straight up, so we have to limb the trees up high to keep them out. They were already starting to figure out how to get into the tree, so we went ahead and harvested them yesterday. I knocked them out of the tree with a 20’ bamboo pole. We filled 3 and a half buckets. English walnuts are so much easier to husk. I let them sit for a bit to soften up, then you can step on them and roll most of the husk off. A pressure washer cleans them nicely.

If the husk is dried then soaked in boiling water it makes the best trap die. They sell it commercialy it will stain steel quick and protect it from rusting in the ground

Well the little electric chipper finally died. Upon inspection it looks like dust covered up the heat sink on the little board for the motor and killed it. Great.

Trying to see if this idea will work. I made two of these kind of like a rebak chipper but I’ll make the flaps overlap. I’m hoping it will break up the char.

Nice!!! I thought it might have been a type of grain or corn mill, but a jaw crusher! Real men have jaw crushers, the rest of us are still trying to convince our wives.

We have had beautiful clear skies the pass week or more. It was looking so good to see the mountains 50 plus miles away. Dana and I hiked from Ingalls Creek up the old Blewett Highway road that closed in 1959 to Etienne Creek and back to Ingalls Creek then up that creek a few miles yesterday 7 plus miles of hiking. Did not see any people until we hiked up Ingalls Creek.
But earlier today at the south end of Wenatchee on Methow Street someone decided to do some welding to close to dry weeds. Now this is our view!!!

Just saw black smoke rising up.

Lots of homes in the fires path.
Praying to Yehovah All Mighty God for people’s safety at that end of town in His words Name Yeshua.
The planes and helicopters are dumping water on the fire as it moves up the mountain side. Fire fighters are on the seen. No wind, that is a big Blessing right now.

The like is for thanking for sharing. That sucks, the air here in Oregon has cleaned up a lot but still hazy. Praying for safety.

Thank You Heavenly Father for keeping the wind down to nothing. Also Manys thanks to all the firefighters and the people that have been helping to put the fire out. The smoke is clearing up that is a good sign. I see no sign of fire on the mountain side.

Just a couple random pics.

  1. Oldest daughter shot her first capercaillie for the season (camouflaged on the ground)

  2. Woodburners taking cover in the rain. Seems they want to keep their butts dry.

  3. A veranda sitting pic for @KristijanL

Man I wish we had grouse that size here! That’s a fine meal. Our native ruff grouse and blue grouse take at least a bird per person for a meal. I prefer to pluck them and bake to use as much meat as possible. Hope to find some this year

Well I made a new grinder. It’s somewhat based off of Bob’s design. I need to tighten the gap between the bars and the blades. It’s definitely less dense than the woodchippers fuel. 6 pounds per 5 gallons as it stands right now. Significantly much less dust especially turning by hand. It’s on a 5/8" keyed shaft so I’ll probably slap as big of a pulley as i can find and run it via V belt. I could make it bicycle powered though if I really wanted.

I was wondering about that extra stark thing too Bob. The woodgas corvette is on the discovery channel at 10 EDT tonight. Not a fan of Jesse James. Last week I watched them for an hour trying to put a blown big block in a sailboat. When it wouldn’t start at their stupid time deadline they blew it up. That was just stupid.
