Life goes on - Summer 2021

Dealership got bought out by someone. Promised nothing’s going to change.

Literally one day and they’ve set up new rules. No nicotine products, no headphones, nobody can use the golf carts even if a customer is disabled.
Mechanics can’t use their own tool boxes or chests anymore, they can’t use their own tools anymore.

They’re forcing us in Detail to use chemicals that we know for a fact are sub standard.
Snake oil leather and paint protectants, garbage.
If you ever go to a car dealership owned by a Terry Taylor you should go to a different one. They rip the soul right out of a hometown dealership.

I’ve been thinking of applying to work somewhere like Amazon Flex. I’m sick of detailing to be honest. Especially at only 12 dollars an hour.

They can’t find a soul to work around here cody. Even Harbor Freight is paying 15. My son pays painters 30 and still can’t get help. I’m with Marcus. I have known people that made a very good living buying up used cars, detailing the crap out of them, probably stuffing the trans full of bananas and selling them.

Yeah that’s what everyone here has been trying to say. We stayed here because we had self governance and showed results. Now they’re tightening the noose with no hard number to compensate for the trouble. Empty promises of “us making more money” etc etc.
I’ll put up with the malarkey for 16 an hour. I’m not going to be paid fry cook wages and have professional standards. They shit talked the sales department because almost all the men there have beards. I’m definitely not cutting my hair or shaving my beard. Ridiculous control freaks.

Found a good deal on eBay for a one or two man crosscut saw. 4 foot blade Champion style teeth 2 blades per rake, perfect for hardwood. My two man saw is a soft wood style with 4 blades per rake. 65 dollars plus shipping. Fella says he’s already set and sharpened the teeth but I’ll have to see for myself when it gets here.

Ya I’m a little concerned about driving the wood burner into auburn today, downtown was getting pretty darn wet yesterday and the yard at work was about a foot deep in spots

Ya just going to be in the safe side and take the dodge today, Incase and water rescues are needed

I’ll be 28 come the 27th of November and I’ve got weight I could lose. Once I process all this big oak I’ll be using smaller trees for fuel. If my dad is any indication I’ll be 72 and still doing hard work.

“The Sun’s gonna’ come up Tomorrow!”
That’s for you fellows up north; sun tomorrow. Actually down here it’s suppose to turn to sun this afternoon.
Be 14 days since sun. Raining every day.
Into full squish, squish now.
On the bright side our mountains rivers now filling and flushing/flowing now, and will bring up the been lingering fish runs.
'Aught to be putting smiles on your faces.

Edit add:

I’d forgotten to show center of properties North-to-South; then reverse. Ugg. If the temps do not drop and stop the grasses growing, I’ll be having to November mow again at least once. Yes. I am standing in an outbreak of mushrooms.

  1. I don’t envy you. All this crap in the world is badly on my nerves. I’m glad I’m nearer the end of the run. I have heated with wood exclusively since 1999. As I reported, I go through a lot of it and until I turned 71 I split it all with a maul, a sledge and wedges. Admittedly a lot of it is ash and splits pretty easily. Pretty happy about my wife making me buy the log splitter now. I’m cutting mostly maple tops left from the log butchers and they can be nasty. Work hard as long as you can. The world is now filled with worthless wimps. They won’t last long.

Rain has finally stopped. My gauge shows 2.68” = highest 24 hrs I have ever seen here.
News is reporting a highest ever at seatac airport.

My personal hardest rain was on a project in Tampa where it rained 3” in 45 min. Floated 750’ of 60” concrete pipe that had 2’ of cover. Broke the bells on the pipe.
Sky turned a deep green, when outside you had to use both hands to shield your nose in order to breath. End of times fear!

I’ve been trying to identify this differential for months now. Googling the codes with different key phrases turns up nothing. Serial seems to be 646002759 and some other numbers read 02E2 and NC1. Has some electrical connector so that leads me to believe it’s limited slip or maybe locking diff? Has a little over a 3:1 gear reduction. Since it doesn’t slip when i hold a side I was thinking of using it for a chunker. Make a flange to run to a keyed shaft and power it with either my diesel or some other big gas engine.

It doesn’t look heavy duty enough Cody. Look around for a old hay square baler, eveyone is baling with round balers now. Mine was a old wire tier baler. I got my for free. Lots of good metals and parts on them to scrap out too. The gear box fly wheel is perfect for a chunker.

I think I missed out on that. Looking up square balers I usually don’t find one. And if I do they want an arm and a leg because it still runs fine.

Keep in mind it’ll be for chunking saplings. Really small stuff. If I could find decent steel i’d make a Rebak like JO and Kristijan.

Parts arrived , Weeks early from estimates delivery time . Today I will drain coolant from engine again . Went to Grandsons First Birthday . I said something about how I had failed at "Drive on Wood " and somehow wanted to reclaim myself using Propane .

You macerate for 2 weeks??

I would like to let it macerate longer, but I followed advice of my friend, who is professional oenolog. Because I am not able to keep the mash out of oxygen in plastic barell, it is better to press it and store is SS tank, which is much better to keep oxygen off.
