Not on this side of the cascades sadly. We have bigleaf maple, which I’m told makes a piss poor syrup. I have harvested sap from one once, mildly sweet like mineral water
Forgot these existed. Very handy size. I might have to get one eventually. North Carolina requires insurance and a tag on all trailers, as well as running lights no matter the size. You can register a homemade trailer but I don’t think I could build one for that cheap.
Yummy Douglas Fur syrup, yuck turpentine gag,gag .

No thanks, but I would take fresh cut Doug fir cologne if they made it
A local goat soap maker gal here makes two specialty fragrance soaps for her manfolk.
“Woodcutter” smells just like fresh cut fir chainsawn chips.
And “WoodMiller” smells just like kiln cured sawn dust.
I’ll get a couple extra for you next time.

That sounds excellent Steve!
It’s a sad day when you have to finally break down and go get some cheaters from the tool crib.
Guess it was going to happen sooner or later.
No new weather pictures form me today.
Yesterday down in the city searching for a new Infared foot warming heater for my moved-in next door sister we had it all for active Spring weather.
I left in falling ground accumulated snow. Drove, dropping elevation down though warming sun, plowed, then clear dry roads.
Then the north sky darkened. The wind blew damaging hard. Then grapple (soft white sleet balls). Then stinging sleet. Then hail. Then big-big snow flakes.
Ha. And lighting with no thunder though the last of this. Knowing people know to not stand near me in lighting storms.
Lighting snow. Thunder snow. Very rare. Only in the energetic changing over Springtime.
4" (100mm) wheels dragging guck-slush accumulated onto plowed clear roads in 45 minutes to get home.
Then sunshine until dark.
Snow again early morning in the dark.
Snowing now again.
Kids home from school. Shared, slow satellite internet then.
Mhy elder Sister, her old dog, and oldest cat toasty warm in the electric red radiant glow heating.
Me and the girls, my old dog, and oldest cat enjoying the red glowing glass fronted wood stove here in our house.
Ha! Ha! True summer here we say starts the 5th of July.
Regards
Steve Unruh
How long should it take for a southerner to acclimate to a northern climate? Jakob North is waiting for the sap to run again.
Cold is a novelty to us so we enjoy some snow. That’s why schools still have snow days down here. That and nobody can drive once it’s hard iced over everywhere the night after a snow.
I know one thing for sure Jakob, you are loving it. Those pictures are almost is making me wanting to put a coat on. It was looking just like that yesterday here in East Wenatchee Washington State. Today no snow sun shining 55°f nice.
Bob
Off the shelf computer boards (Arduino) and his own free code designed fuel injection. It’s TB injection that uses the points and manifold pressure as it’s only two input data. Tested on a VW dune buggy.
Haha, I didn’t expect to ever see snow and a southerner in the same pic
Poor southener, doesent even realise its cold
We spent the morning collecting sap and we have been cooking all afternoon.
Too bad you caint do that job in july and august, Then the weather would be much better and much cooler than Alibama deep south weather.Crazy snow storms braking records this time of year.SWEM.
Ya im serprized he dont have two parka winter coats on.
It is less sugar content then a hard maple. It takes longer to boil, but it will work. Box elder works as well too. It may have a slightly different flavor profile, but I doubt it is a bad one.
Good to know, I have seen some of those around here
I worked with a guy that used to tap Birch trees and make syrup from it.
I do not recall how it tasted, but I do remember he made beer with it and that does stick with me…
Very smooth lots of mouth feel very rich beer…
