Could this really happen

Having a running vehicle in that situation would be a huge asset but it would also put a huge target on your back.
Riding shotgun would go back to meaning what it used to mean.

That being said it’s also been proven that having a woodgas truck and knowing how to use a woodgas truck are 2 different things

Wasn’t aware it had changed meaning  though sometimes it may not be a shotgun, sometimes a rifle when on private property

Chris, you’re reading my mind. We would have to be very careful showing off our rides. It’s all right only as long as people are smiling and still think they are better off.

Now days everyone is driving EV’s and we all know you just plug them into the wall plug electricity, no fuel needed by cause it magically charges all the EV up. Problem solved. A Big change from 2012 to 2022 on a lot of people in their dumb minded way of thinking these days.

That was a good video Wayne. Something for all to think about with the higher prices of fuel showing up at the pumps. Oil Embargo of 1972 -3 was a test to see how us Amercicans would react. We had lots of fuel ship tankers that were not able to unloaded in the Puget Sound ports. The ships were unloaded and then they just stayed tied up in port. Just Slowed everything down and created a shortage.
I know it would not be so easy this time alround. DOW. Some of us are ready for it.

Has anyone heard of Texas Tig? That’s when you use a stick welder but hold another electrode for welds that would otherwise take multiple passes to fill.

A flux core wire is somewhat like stick in so much as it uses flux and filler metal, but for lazy people(me).

I’m wondering if one could just lay down a stick electrode in a wide bead, maybe have the voltage set a scoche higher than normal and do a pass?
I need to test this theory. Would be pretty helpful in certain scenarios, like if I had to blow a hole larger than a pipe going in.

Always funny hearing someone refer to 1/8 inch plate as “thin”. Can definitely tell who’s a Pipe Fitter or Construction welder.

Yes Cody , should be no problem . You can also use the two stick method to plug a hole you could put your big toe in

I talked about it in my build thread 1/8" material is very thin for what I normal do at work. Very few things thinner then 3/16" on my conveyor trucks and cranes

1/8? That’s not a gap.

I have done the two rod thing many times but never heard it called Texas TIG. If you are using the coated rod as the filler I’ll just about promise that you will get a lot of inclusions. Regardless, how ever you do it, after the gap is filled you should grind most of it out and then run regular passes. On a flat section where you have access behind it I always use a backer. For me it’s usually an old brake pad or disc but a piece of brass will work. I’d rather work with 6010 than 6011 any day. However on both examples I could weld those in one pass with 7018. People do not take the time to optimally adjust their amperage.

ah-ha that is why he was stressing non-critical! He never said why… (that I heard)

Nothing woodgas related, but it contains wood and cars. Me and wife decided to make a roadtrip, it was some extra days of work, we borrowed in-laws rv and visited Båstnäs car cemetary (yes, its named that way) it’s an abandoned scrap-yard in the woods, very close to the Norwegian border. This place was something the environmentalists has struggled to clean up this place but it finally became declared as a “cultural heritage”.
I thought i should share some pic’s, because i think it’s beautiful “nature”.
Warning: this pictures may contain both cars and wood in close relationships.

Old Saab, 2cyl, 2stroke engine, 22hp.

I stood a long moment, just watching a small bird, flying in with mosquitos and flies, and out to get more, from this gasoline filling pipe.

Resting in peace.

Thanks for identifying the transverse two cylinder Saab picture Goran. I was head scratching over that one.

And making it clear that the fellow peeking out from his Troll car was not an actual Troll, Yeti or a Sasquatch.
Beautiful dog, by the way.

Nice looking dog, We’ll call you Swedish Marcus. Gull wing doors on a Mercedes lift up. I guess VW had a different plan.

Interesting pics, Göran! I’ve been planning to go there for several years, but never got to it.
Isn’t there another cemetery like that in Östergötland/Småland somewhere?

Hi Jo, yes there is a smaller one in Småland/Ryd, Kyrkö mosse. I’ve never been there, but wife has, she likes photgraphy.
Anyways i can really recomend this one, very nice to see how nature “takes back” these old cars.
Some more pic’s:

This birch takes the wheel.

Old house, used as storage, stacked prop-shafts.

Spring-tree.

Thought i found an old gasifier, but after some investigation it was a low-pressure steam boiler.

Tree’s dont give up.

This growing season may be a little scant for me. I will try to plant some buckwheat and corn. Ordered 5lb sacks of winter and spring Hard Red Wheat. I’ll plant the winter ones first. I’ll focus on root vegetables this time. Potatoes, onions, carrots, etc. I hope the cucumbers will come up plentiful and healthy so I can pickle them. Not sure if Burpless Cucumbers are even good for pickling.

Edit: I also am planting Mammoth Sunflowers as a sort of lazy crop. If birds eat them then it means they will eat less of my grains. Anything I have I’ll save 25% for replanting and try to turn the rest to oil.

I really need to look for a gasoline tractor and run a wood burner on it! Might settle for an old Garden Tractor at first.
