Also just remembered what other car Mike LaRosa drove. He drove a 1997 Cavalier, probably a 2.2L and in Chris Saenz’s Argos video goes so far as to say it was the best running woodgas car he ever had. This gives me a lot of confidence for this trade.
I can’t remember if those are unibody or they actually have a frame. but check that out… The unibody rusts out, and you can’t fix it. Your century might actually have an actual frame.
And honestly, since gas went up, people might have actual trucks for cheap, if you are going to drive it on woodgas anyway, it isn’t going to matter a whole lot what the price of gas is.
I think don mans had 2.2 s10. Though i had 03 grand am v6 that had lots a extra power, that would work good with wood gas, and still have a little extra power left. either one could work, make sure its not plastic intake manifold , unless you can find an aftermarket aluminum intake.
Both the 98 Buick century and the 96 Cavalier are Unibody design. But I live in the South where no body rusts easily, you have to actively abuse a car to make it rust away down here. And I’ve already got pickups, the Sierra is getting a gasifier as we speak.
Oh also in reference to the intake manifolds, I’m pretty sure the Cavalier used metal intakes until the early 2000s, or maybe forever. A lot of people like to turbocharge these little cars.
What I really like about the layout of these cars in the engine bay is where the throttle body is and how much room you have between the TB and the filter box. Like 2.5 feet between them it’s nuts. They use a rubber plastic snorkel from the air filter to the throttle body, so you can either replace this hose with some metal pipe or with PVC and some rubber couplings.
Finally finished with the first pile of firewood, now I need 4m3 of birch for my wife, and then firewood for the eldest son.
Does your wife demand a specific batch of firewood?
Yes, it usually goes to 4m3 out in Sjöändan in the wood stove, and she dislikes when I cut pine and spruce.
I wish I could have sent all the rain we got today over to Kristijan and Tone. Ridiculous winds and just an absolute deluge.
Agreed. Living in a cloud all day drizzling here 3 out of the past 4 days. Squish. Squish.
If wishes could only be kisses I recon we’d all have world peace.
S.U.
Seems like april showers came early, raining off and on all week and 2/3 of next week here in central michigan area too, Not nearly as much rain as the southestern us areas.
Wayne something looks off? Was that a first gen Dakota, carburetor? It lacks the body trim of the later fuel injected trucks I think …or maybe it’s the bright color throwing me off
Good morning Marcus .
1991 dakota 318 cid , single cab 8 foot bed , throttle body fuel injection .
Ah it’s the long bed throwing me off! Around here I have yet to find a long bed Dakota that isn’t carbureted. I debated getting one and then swapping the wiring over for fuel injection just to have the long bed. More wood storage my thought, the Toyotas bed is 7’6", and about 9 bags of wood is maxed out for space
HI Wayne K , that must be picture from your trip too burkley CA. and back too alibama all on wood derived engine power, OR did you go coast too coast.?
Yes Kevin Visited Berkeley while driving coast to coast and back .
Here’s for my American friends,
Today at work i was out repairing this big old piece of American iron, i’d helped this farmer before, putting a Scania truck v8 500+hp, in this tractor, this Steiger tractors are not so common in Sweden, but some found their way over here.
Really gotta love this old tractors
Must be an old one . . . he pees on the floor instead of the bucket
