I have never had yellowjackets chase me more then 20-30 yards. The European wasps that look like yellow jackets will chase you much further and are more aggressive. But yellow jackets are aggressive this time of year as well.
All my wood is bone dry less then 10 % that is chunked and the piles that need to be chunked 18 % or so. So what I am doing now , the have sprinklers watering all my piles down. Why becsuse west of us 30 miles or so away are some new fire break outs and the winds are blowing hard 45 mph. From the west. Also the slash pile is just west of the house 100 feet, so water is being put on it also.
Yuk! We can not see more then a 1/4 mile or 0.402 km. I would rather have water soggy wood then the house burn down. I have been through a house fire before back in 2009.
Some days are better then others. My guys are fine just a little whiplash, but when the road shoulder collapses under a 75,000lb truck bad things happen and there is nothing you can do but hold on and trust the seat belts. 2023 Freightliner m2 3 weeks old 375,000$ totaled
Thank God theyâre alright. They did the best they could in that situation and itâs a good thing they wore their seatbelts.
The hole below the truck is another 60â down. The truck being loaded the pallets on the bed hooked a tree and kept the truck from sliding down into that hole. Could have been a 1000 times worst then it was
There is way more story here. How did this all come about.
Looks like narrow Farm-to-Market roads, on a turn with a big truck, they hit the shoulder a little and the weight plus soft ground made it give way and fall off the road.
Nailed it Cody. Witness behind them 25mph the outside duel was on the fog line and the road flat crumbled out from underneath them, pulled the ass of the truck in and driver couldnât get it back up. 2 4000lb pallets on the right side once the ass end slid out inertia took those 2 pallets and did a slow motion roll to the passenger side and it was the impact from the flop that twisted the frame and bed, ripped exhaust stack off, crumpled the headboard and cab, ripped passenger toolbox off all in one sweeping motion
Glad everyone is alright. The truck and trailer can be replace but the people canât be.
Still donât get it. Were you in the truck or in your vehicle and did it also crash?
I was at the shop 80 miles away, this truck is out of my Tacoma yard they were out doing deliveries and were between jobs heading to the next one. One driver one loader in the truck, I drove out to coordinate the 2 super wreckers to recover it and restack the material and secure the truck for transport on the wrecker back to the shop where insurance will take over from there
We burned through one half of the wood in the woodshed today which means that the start of the wood spitting season has arrived for next yearâs firewood.
A little follow-up of last night lightening storm. We had hundreds of lighting strikes in central Washington. One was so close it shook the house. I was looking out the window and flash turned everything white and bright out in the darkness. The good news is it was raining hard, flash flooding warning from 09:00 pm to 02 :00 am this morning. I stayed up until it was all over around 02:00 am. I hope it help put some of the wild fires out and not started more.
Got wet wood? Yup.
Oh, when you said my guys, I thought you were talking about your sons. Used to be you had to bend a frame before they would total something.
Frame is extremely bent and every cross member
Are there a lot of sink holes in your area, or just a rare happenstance. Scary- glad no one fell down in the 60 foot deep sink hole,or was that just the edge of the road normal drop off-the 60 foot you were referring too-THANKS Good thing they had insurence.
NOT sure ware you live-but here usa-michigan-its starting to feel like winter at night time in the 40,f range. But the highs for most of september are mostly above 70F degrees,So thats looking good.
I live in southern Chile. The seasons are reversed and August here is what February is in the northern hemisphere. Winter here is daytime temperatures in the 40 to 50 F range. I usually cut trees throughout the winter (at least when it isnât raining which is most of the time). It was hard to do that in the States when winter meant a lot of single digit days and a lot of snow. Seems like this winter has been cooler than normal, but I still have all the wood I need for next year cut up and a bunch more for charcoal!
OK thanks Martin, sounds like you have a nice mild winter in chile-It dont start getting really cold around central michigan untill around middle of december, many times it dont snow much till after christmas, though since the weather paturnâs are on a shift this year- weather guy predicting early winter with plenty of snow on at leiste the first half of winter, not sure yet on the second half of winter- How is your summers there in chile- and how long are summers.
Kevin, the summers are Dec 21 to March 21, but the weather is warm from November to April. Generally, the days are in the 70âs to 80âs and dry. We donât get hot and humid weather, but the sun is really strong. However, if you get in the shade it is really pleasant. And the nights are cool, sometimes to the point where we could have a fire in the stove.
