The truth about Ukraine

Steve, l will not poke in to your or Vladislavs post, neither will l give comment to any of this as l hate to write things l am not 100% sure of.

But, one thing bothered me. Personaly, as a Slav, and linguisticluly, as something of interest of mine since l was a kid.

So, l called a friend from the feald.

What you sayd about Slavs being slaves, is only partialy true, she sayd. In the 12 century, the invading Germanic nations took this word similarity and exploited it. But in fact, the root, Slav, is much, MUCH older. See, Slavic people are FAR too proud to call them self slaves and this is when things didnt add up.

In fact, the original root Slav means “pride, joy, celebration, glory” still today. Sure you all heared the phrase “Slava Ukraini” till now. Means " glory to Ukraine!

Chris, l do not envy you the fact you needed to put a decision on this one. Things got heated, but justijied so. But you decided wisely, in my opinion.

Absolutely. Anyone speaking on behalf of Joni or his daughter please keep us informed. Thank you!

It is very wise to keep politics out of the forum. I’m happy to see this move. We can still argue about Chevy’s and Fords and I’ll be happy because I’ll be right.

Thank you Chris, good call you all. We are still praying for Katya safety
for our friend. Joni. Also for all the people’s of the Ukraine and Russia in this useless war that is going on. PEACE I PRAY That the killing may stop.
I ask YEHOVAH All Mighty God to put the ones responsible for this war on their knees and asking forgiveness for what they have done. And putting a stop to this kind of madness in their minds causing this war.
YEHOVAH according to Your will in your words Name Yeshua.

Chris with all due respect you are making the wrong call.
Let him speak, Putin shut down conversations on the internet we have to show that we are honest and open or it just prove the propaganda machine is right.

Just by Typing Kyiv and not Kiev you seem to prove you see a difference.

Yes Russian is a dialect of proto Ukrainian -Russian - Belorussian language I can even hear some similar words in Russian with Polish ( just not as much I can hear from Ukrainians ) we get that too.

I can’t read and understand What Kristian might type in his Latin script Slovene.
But I can read a little Serb and make sense of some that.
Its all real it all has a cultural reference it all means something to all of us that we are distinct.

I listen to my sister in law speak to her Canadian born daughter in Modern Ukrainian.
Some of it I understand, some sounds very Russian…
That is her trying to speak something very broadly understood by as many people as possible. ( and when she speaks Russian its Russian I can tell, and when she speaks to me its something old and not very modern Russian sounding at all… I wish I could fluidly speak 4 or 5 languages like she does )

Language and culture shift with time but that does not mean what is now, or what was them or what will be in the future is " Absolutely no history ".
It was real I am proof of that, it is still real people are fighting for it…

However, one can speak their “truth” without directly denying someone else’s “truth” and/or insulting them.

Truth is a very personal thing.
You can’t make someone believe what you think is true.
Orwell was trying very hard to remind us of this over his lifetime.
Russia is not at war with Ukraine.

I have one more thought to share.
Not my own I only wish I was so clever…

The further a society drifts from the truth.
The more it will hate those that speak it…

Joni was on Viber on March 11th. A Ukrainian telecom operator has stopped working in Donbas, so it is impossible to call him in Chernihiv. I tried to call via Skype - at first there were beeps, as if he did not pick up the phone (calls from Skype are displayed on the mobile phone as a hidden number). Yesterday Skype said that the subscriber is not available.

I really hope that everything is fine with Joni and his daughter, and that it’s just a lack of electricity, communication or a dead battery. However, Skype cannot be called a reliable means of communication.

I watch on the news how, as a result of fierce battles, Mariupol turns into ruins. And how did Kherson manage to avoid huge human and material losses, which was very quickly captured by Russian troops.

Chernihiv, Kharkov and Kyiv also strongly resist, like Mariupol …

I watched a speech by Arnold Schwarzenegger - it’s like advising people to stop an avalanche. However, I myself could not figure out how to stop the war …

But in all human conflicts there is a common foundation - Pride. It is she who starts the wars, it is because of her that people cannot stop them.
What significant results will this war have? Alley of Angels! As it already is in Donetsk, now, unfortunately, it will be in every city of Ukraine.

The key point is that Vitaly signed the contract because there was no other job in Nikolaev. And so it is in many cases. But why do people still not choose agriculture as a job???

Just yesterday I learned about the American Homestead Act. This is a great way to make poor people very wealthy. Bravo!

Maybe this would prevent many wars? Maybe simple labor on one’s own land, for the sake of one’s relatives and for the sake of future generations of one’s descendants, can temper human pride? Or, at the very least, give people money so that they don’t have to sign military contracts.

Or am I being too naive?

One must remember that the land that was given in the Homestead Acts was first force-ably taken from the people who occupied it before. It has been the same since the first people somehow thought they had a right to own and divide up a planet that they were only supposed to care for.

Human nature will remain the same–pride being once evidence. Jesus is the only solution I know to that problem.

We say this and pray, Yehovah we ask that you will continue to keep Katya and Joni safe according to your will, and by your WORD Yeshua the Messiah in who we hope and trust. Also we pray for all those who are suffering in this Man made war of stupidity of pride. Blessings to those and humble those that they might call on Your Name and see the truth for your Name sake we pray.
We say Amen.

The Russian army left the Kiev, Chernihiv and Sumy regions of Ukraine.

I hope Joni and his daughter were able to survive this part of the war…

The news is talking about the transfer of Russian units to the north and south of Donbass, to encircle the grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (about 40,000 fighters).
To prevent this encirclement, Ukraine is transferring its forces (another 40,000 fighters) to the border of the Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporozhye regions.

These are large areas, but less densely populated than large cities. Fighting in Mariupol has been going on for more than a month. The city looks almost completely destroyed. Kyiv, Chernihiv and Kharkov would probably have held out even longer, and with much more loss of human lives and more devastation.

Also, the Russian military strikes at the oil depots of Ukraine and major railway junctions, which began to receive heavy weapons from Europe.

God, save little Avdiyivka and all my relatives who live there!

Marat, thanks for the report.
Have you experienced any bombardment, or do you live rural enough to be left alone?
