Hi Tom, so did you create your own You Tube Channel? Using your name? The You Tube rules don’t come up when I go to my channel, and when I first created it I could not load anything on for a few hours. Hum. When I get some time I will start up my Mac mini that I have down stairs for running movies on the big screen. I will edit something on iMovie and try to load it up to my You Tube channel. I have never used iMovie before to edit with. I use my PC and it have been awhile on the editing part. I’m thinking you might have to finalize it after editing not sure. I’m like the others just up load it the way it comes out from video taping it. Ha. Bloopers are fun.
Bob
Bob would love to hear how your mini works but would you contact me by “message” so we don’t bore other with my problem. Thanks for your interest and help. TomC
Not right now, but soon I am thinking about a new hopper. The one I have now is too large— I don’t need such a large hopper for driving around here and if I get to go to Argos again, I will just have to stop more often.
My thoughts are; there is the well documented WK hopper.
Then I like Pepe’s funnel made out of 1/8 in rod. I use to buy 1/8 th in re-bar from the cement company, but last time I checked they didn’t have any. 1/8 th drill rod would be rather expensive.
Then there is JO’s which seems quite simple but works very well to remove water. Simplified, I call it a sleeve inside the hopper with a gutter.
And finally there is what I will call a Imbert design which is a double wall where hot gas travels and heats the hopper wood with out any water collection. I am leaning to this design. I had one built this way but it was too small and when I scrapped it out, I found a lot of carbon dust in between the two cylinders. I have since been told that the hopper should be built so the two cylinders come apart for “cleaning”. My original one was welded together. How can I bolt the two chambers together so I can remove one or the other for cleaning. I don’t think it is necessary to collect water from this design-- it goes through the reduction zone. I am thinking of using a couple of cut down 55 gal drums or if I can come by an old refrigerator, use the skin off from that.
If you have some suggestions but are short on time, just keep me in mind, as I have plenty to do before I start this part of the project, again. TomC
Hi, Tom!

This has been discussed many times. The properties of the discussed systems should already be clear. Now is the time to decide what is the easiest system to serve, and which gives the best start-up properties at the next start-up.
Condensing in a single cylinder with a loose inner sleeve and a loose gutter is the easiest to serve in the long run.
The gutter formed as a “piston ring”, pressed to expand by a horizontal bolt from one gable to the opposite gable.
Gable = short (end) wall on a rectangular house.
Then you want to exploit the heat in the exiting gas:
With a plank, internally and externally cleanable from above without dismantling anything.
No exit heat will be lost to the crows before delivered in the midst of the wood.
Why always chose less effective ways, when more effective ways are more practical
to use and serve?
I have kind of become known for pestering builders for reports and PICTURES. I know that JO is under the gun to get his Mazda running so I won’t bother him. But I would like to say that when he gets it on the road, we will want pictures of the build, so keep your camera out in the shop. TomC
While on documentation, we wait patiently for your report too
Yes I know, I know!! I am at a point where I have to do some silicon work. I rebuilt my lid, but it didn’t hold because I think the silicon froze before it sat up. One day of warmer weather and then right back to 0 f and high of 15 f. TomC
Hello Mr. Tom
I don’t want to pour salt on the wound but it is 70F here today with the doors and windows open .
The bad part is we still have light rain and heavy mud
Ya, I know. You didn’t want to but you did it anyway. I’m surprised you are still living in Al. Everyone, it seems, from our part of Wi. are buying places in Al for winter get a ways. They can’t stand the muggy summers so they come back to God’s country for the summer. Not many going to Fl or Tx anymore. Be aware. Some damyankee may show up with a bag of money for your place for the winter. TomC
I am trying to hook up a O2 sensor ( lean/rich gage) I have a '94 Chev. and the O2 sensor has 3 wires — two white and one black which changes to a purple one at the connector. Is the black/purple the one to connect to?TomC
Wish I could help but I know nothing about a chevy.
If you could trace the wire I bet it would be a wire going to the computer that you would need to connect to .
I googled it and it looks like it is either a one wire or a four wire sensor in 1994. Here is the one wire schematic.
Here is the four wire schematic.
If I had to guess, the purple wire would be the signal wire.
I am sure I have three wire, but I do agree that the black/purple is ‘‘probably’’ the one to tap. I was just hopping that someone had worked on a similar system. TomC
the one wire o2 are cheap tom just add one and you don’t have to worry about messing up anything.
One wire o2 sensers are non heated so must be close to the exuast manifold but otherwise perfect for the job.
A bad week in Crivitz. last Friday an illegal Mexican ran a stop sign, hit my grand-daughter, and totaled my Equinox. She got whip lash but other wise ok.
Today I was trying to melt the ice around my sliding shop doors and some how the flame got on the back side of the steel siding and caught the sill plate on fire. Tried to put it out with a fire extinguisher, but the flames were like a chimney fire between each set of studs. The fire got away from me quickly and ended up gutting my 50x100 ft. Quonset building. Lost everything except my wood gasified truck. I drove it right through the doors that were frozen shut. Tried to get back in but the fire was up to and running across the ceiling. I backed away and call 911 TomC.
Oh Tom, I am so sorry for your hard ship right now. Glad your grand -daughter is alright.
The Things you have lost, some things can be replaced and some not.
The important thing is this, we didn’t lose You. You can not be replaced. I know I am speaking for everyone here on DOW. Let us know if we can help, my prayers are going out for you and family right now. I have been through a fire loss myself 10 years ago in a house fire, and know what you are going through my friend.
Bob
Sure sorry to hear that, glad you’re OK.
Real sorry for your loss Mr. Tom but real glad your OK .
