Could you take it home afterwards or would they blow it up like they did to that tractor?

We haven’t heard from OP in a while. I think he may not be interested in our ideas of how the show should be done. Probably went elsewhere looking for someone willing to play along on their terms. Or just given up on the idea all together.

They may have given up on the idea altogether. You could probably throw a FEMA or a LaRosa together in 4 days, and have it run a vehicle. If they trash the vehicle anyway, tar production isn’t an issue the couple hours of runtime.

I think it would be easier and quicker to build a fema or LaRosa than it would be to train the operator to drive it

Exactly. On that done in the UK National Geographic presentation, even after all built up they had to show Johan Liddel in front of the cameras showing how to basic no-start diagnosis, and get-running stabilized settled in.
