Marcus has a new video. I don’t think he mentioned it here. I’m ratting him out.

I was confused at first but then figured out that you got an insider tip that Geo’s were the one car that could get you through the apocalypse. Paint it blue and it will be impervious to laser death from the sky.

As easy as you make that look. I am glad I don’t do body shop repairs. I was merely admiring the clean shop and eyeballing the fridge. Oh and trying to figure out how you put it back together, and then how you can actually fit in it. If I had a vehicle that far apart, I would be putting an electric drive axle into it. in part because I wouldn’t remember how it all went back together.

Hi Marcus, if you back those gaps up with copper( pipe, bar, even heavy wire) you can just run a bead and done.

I used that trick in several of the spot welds since the previous guy to tear it down drilled a few spot wells from the opposite side as I did so it was a through hole, that’s a good old school trick

I have used old brake shoes and pads for the same thing. Brake shoes for curves.

Video comparing mineral based(conventional) motor oil and synthetic oils. At the beginning he talks about a really interesting new design of piston ring that has a variable hardness. Soft exterior for easy breaking in and hard interior for longevity.

That is interesting for various reasons, but one is because, north of the klamath valley is where numerous bigfoot sitings occur.

Thanks. They keep looking for new ideas. They mix the music in fairly well. I am hoping they stick with it, and keep improving.

Hi, Steve!
That is a pretty well-balanced feature story for a Portland TV station. Thanks for sharing! Incidentally, I looked up the KPTV Fox 12 station owner because the format looked familiar. Owned by Gray Media, Inc. same as who owns the chair I’m sitting in right now at WPTA / WISE TV. :cowboy_hat_face: I miss Paul already; he would have some dry humor ready for us by now about something he has experienced…

Here a series beginning video that should resonate with all of us IC engine guys:

As I’ve said on another couple of topics I helped the Wife select and buy a 2022 Toyota Hybrid as her last-ever vehicle.
So watching different Operations and Maintenances videos for guidelines.

I stumbled across this one:

We all now in our lives have this level of complexity in our IGB welders; plasma cutters and solar system controllers and inverters. You have to have some faith in the manufacturers. Or be willing to just set aside; junk it out; and move onto the next one to try. Sort’ta O.K. in a clothes washing machine; a refrigerator or even a welder.
NOT O.K. to have subsystem failure taking down a $$,$$$ vehicle or a CNC machining center.
Waiting now for his to be released motors/transmission on the 3rd gen. eCVT that ain’t actually a cones and chain drive type.

The 3rd generation Toyota hybrid motors/transmision/transaxle explained:

L-o-n-g video, yes. But plainly put forward.
Note his later explanation of the nine modes of operation.

Take real note that this assembly had no clutches or sliding friction points except for straight and angle cut gears. Therefore easy on the lube fluid. No friction debris building up in the lube. So no need for filtering. Somewhere in there, not shown, should be steel shavings magnets collectors.

And he does explain how the engine to drive axle speed are made variable by the speed AND direction of primary electric motor thru the planetary gears set up.

Learn and enjoy.

Thanks, Mr Steve. Very interesting video and well explained. The hybrids are almost full EV with a ICE for support. Things are changing and Toyota is building top things. Very interesting CVT!

The mechanical push CVT is an old heritage from the DAF passenger cars. Bosch took over and sold a lot in Japan. I showed an old video here somewhere. Funny cars, driving just as fast backwards.
