I had been doing a lot of driving and testing on the 94 ,318 Ram and have put over eleven hundred miles on it but the last few days have been working the V-10 a lot. We are trying to brace for the coldest weather we have had in twenty years. I have had the V-10 running a lot of earns and hauling fire wood.

All my friends up north are probably laughing but keep in mind we are not accustomed to the cold. I even had to buy about a hundred bucks worth of antifreeze!

It promises to be so cold here, I’m thinking about buying some of that kind of anti freeze that you drink! Ha!

Carl that’s funny let me know if it keeps you harm lol

Hello all.

I have some experience woodgasing in temperatures 100F+ but very little in sub freezing weather but due to current circumstances I am getting a little unwanted practice.

We are having the coldest weather in about twenty years.

The picture below is firing the wood burner for the day and about to take my son to the school bus stop. The chill factor near 0.

You folks in the north and mid west that deal with this weather have got to be tough and my hat is off to you !!!

Second thought , I will keep my hat on tight but do applaud you.

Hi there, Wayne,

in Germany, we have quite the opposite: This winter is the warmest since the beginning of weather recording. The warmest winter so far was 2007 (the average was +5.something°C which is 42°F). But now, if you average the lowest temperature per day (natch the night temperature) it is still warmer than that! We have two digits in the plus-°C-range every day, which is normal for October or April… Somehow, the weather seems to be barking mad and deranged this winter.

Best regards,

Sam

Hello Sam ,

Real good to here from you , Thanks for posting .

The last few years I think I could have made it through winter without antifreeze in the vehicles and I think I may have gotten soft . A few days of this weather makes me respect mother nature.

This coming summer out working in temps 100 F plus I can think back to today with the feeling of ice in my bones and I sure it will make me feel better .

Nice hat Wayne, I have one similar I break out when the north wind blows up here in Wash. 37 degrees here, kinda feelin lucky right about now. I am right between 2 rainforests here in the banana belt. We only get a hundred or so inches a year instead of 150 in Quinault. Sounds like a good time to catch up on some inside chores. Everybody stay warm…David L… The picture is what I found down the road the other day for free.

For us here in the mid plains states mother nature needs to remind us that the only thing that separates us from the Arctic a couple of barbed wire fences

Hi Gang, Well we made it up to 12 below zero today F with strong winds. It’s headed back down. I’m going to pull a trailer to Wayne’s next year … Mike

The Governor ordered a state wide school closing on Friday for today. The schools are closed tomorrow too. -23 was the low and a -15 for a high with a -39 windchill. Was projected to be -60 windchill. Looks like the whole country is suffering. My wife is a mail carrier with a walking route. She called me during a break saying, “It hurts to even breathe”. If Minnesota is receiving these temps. I’m sure the temps Arvid is experiencing are even colder.
Hang tough all, this too shall pass.

it’s a balmy -18F here… (feels like -40 with wind chill, we actually have a wind chill warning here) won’t be long and we’ll be back to t shirt weather…

hey arvid …its -7f here with a wind chill -30f…you guys up north bust be getting pretty windy.LOL.

All the county schools delayed opening two hours this week but the southern buses and I don’t function well in this sub freezing weather ( busted heater hose)

I feel for you northern guys .I couldn’t imagine temps that cold…Its 28f here today ,dont think I could take much colder that that

Heck, It’s only 8 below at the moment. Was only 15 below last night. I went to start the truck. wha wha wha … Put 6 amp charger on and one middle cell boiled over. Guess it’s froze so battery is shot… Changing battery now. I can barely pick one up. Sucks. Hopefully the one I put in is in better shape. I always take the batteries out of the cars I won’t be driving and bring them indoors and keep them charged over the winter. ML

hi wayne, its -26 here but spose to warm up -3 for the high.
been on dow for the last couple of weeks and want to say thanks for it and all the info you have on it. also thanks to all the other dows for there info.I am not a computer person so please bear with me.
I have a 79 ford300 that id like to put on a trailer as a portable power source, run a splitter, buzz saw and maybe a chipper. if Id put a gasifier on it to run the motor could I also tee into it and run a genset at the same
time. would I be able to run a couple gensets if the 300 wasn’t running. haven’t seen anything with multipul hook ups or various size moters. thanks jim

Hello Mr. Boisen and welcome to the DOW site.

" hi wayne, its -26 here but spose to warm up -3 for the high " With those temperatures I wouldn’t be brave enough to look out the door.!!

" would I be able to run a couple gensets if the 300 wasn’t running. haven’t seen anything with multipul hook ups or various size moters. "

I haven’t tried to run two motors at the same time from one gasifier so I’m kida just shooting from the hip with my answer.

One gasifier if big enough should produce enough gas to run several small motors but I can see a problem .

Any change of throttle or rpm of motor #1 would require an adjustment to motor #2. When #2 is adjusted then #1 would require further adjusting .

If computerized I see no problem with the above .

It’s kida like a balance beam with weighs on the opposite ends. As long as the weights are the same and positioned the same distance from the center all will be balanced. If the weight on one end is increased you will have to increase the weight of the other to maintain balance or move the weight more from the center. .

Wayne

thanks wayne, guess I got to do more thinking and dreaming jim

Hello Herb,

The wood here in Alabama is very slow to dry also . I have been using it much faster than it has been drying. I have some dry wood that I have had stored away for 3-4 years but it is to muddy to get to it now without tearing the ground up.

The humidity has been 90 plus , foggy , rainy and muddy.

I worked the V-10 ram all day .

Terry L , I know you like video so I made a short one for ya.
