Well if we can wish you a 98th, then we also have managed not to kill ourselves doing something stupid or have someone like the other half kill us for the 50 years it will take you to get there.
Haha, I very much enjoy your discussion guys. I believe it’s important to be able to joke about things like this.
My father turns 77 this year. Whenever he meets someone his own age, he likes to cheer them up by putting his tumb on the avarage life expectancy number on a tape meassure. He then asks them to put their thumb on their age - to get an overview on how much past and how much is left
Ha. I was born with a get out of crap free card Sean. I always honestly believed it was going to take kryptonite to do me any real damage. Time has a way of milking some of the foolish out of us but not all of it. JO’s father has a tape measure. I turn on Youtube and they have people that track who has died in the last few days. I turn that into a competition of who I’ve outlived. Old people used to do that with newspaper obituary pages. No real challenge to outliving the geezers around here. They all got poisoned spraying carcinogens on their orchards. I do marvel when I see an active and seemingly fit 80 yr old. Even that seem like a stretch. I believe the bio-weapon has done me more damage that I have yet realized.
This was a real treat for G-Pa the two 5 year old cousins wanted to help me get the cherry wood out of the orchard.
Santi helped me yesterday and today Elias wanted to help too.
Yes they even help old G-Pa to unload too. It took half time to load and unload the wood.
Training the younglings up right on DOW. Santi has taken a real interest in my wood gas truck. He knows were you put the wood into the hopper. If He continues to show interest in it he just might be the next generation in our family to DOW. His Dad and Mom are both auto mechanic technician. Millie now works for auto parts store.
I can now say as long as I have a wood supply and helpers like these boys, I will have enough wood to last me the rest of my life DOW.
Still about half the orchard left to pick up wood, the wood pile will end up maybe twice the size as last year. Only chunked 1/3 of the pile last year.
Bob
Bob, you got two helpers willing. That’s not fair
You need the carrot on a stick motivator JO. Substitute a video game for the carrot and your Grandson will follow you out to the woodpile. Of course there’s the old “you can take a horse to water but you can’t make him drink” thing to consider.
Well today my two wood gathering boys were more focused on playing and climbing the cherry trees. But we did get finished up getting all the wood out of the orchard. My wood pile is now twice as big as last year. I what say I chunked about 1/3 of that of wood and made charcoal with a lot of it.
The pile is now 22’ long 8’ wide and 6’ tall.
The small pile by the wood cradle is fours old now it was a huge pile almost gone now.
They say that these little Dakotas are not for heavy working and hauling, but look at the pile of wood.
The 1992 Dodge Dakota has definitely earned it right to burn all of this wood if it can in the WK Gasifier and make wood gas to run on. Some of the other 75% of gasification is, wood preparing for the gasifer.
My next job is, I want to narrow the wheel base on the wood chunker for easier transporting around the place. I have been wanting to do this for a couple of years now. I need to take some metals of it for my other gasifer builds. So now is the time to do it.
Bob
Holly cow!!! I’m older than your father. No wonder I can’t keep up with you kids. TomC
Tom, I will be 70 years young at the end of this month. These boys are grandchildren and I have a greatgrandson the same age. Yup the family is spread out in ages.
It keeps me young at heart trying to keep up with them.
Bob
Yeah, and I’m older than Kristijan’s father. It’s amazing how many generations we’re able to sqeeze into DOW. But we’ve got one challange left - that’s female members
Female member is politically incorrect now JO. I think we are supposed to be all one gender now. Unfortunately I can’t remember what I did with my freaking Maxi-pads.
Bob, your bees must be happy with all those cherry blossoms.
Tom, that’s what we used to tell young newcomers at the mill when we hit the showers at the end of a shift. “Who’s this week’s lady?” None of them dared to bend over if they happened to drop their soap bar
It could happen, I have a female subscriber to my YouTube channel who loves the woodgas content and comments pretty regularly. According to my stat sheet I have 3-5% female viewers??? And one lady local who I showed my truck to while at a gas station said she would willingly have one put on her van if it meant not paying Joe’s gas prices. I’d say there is a chance we may someday get some female folks here. And I would wager to say they would be female, women, be able to define it and not a “birthing person, parental unit”

It’s a fourstroke gasoline powered saw…
Has anyone had any experience with these?
Thanks Bruce. For a hundred and fifty bucks I’ll bite. That’s twenty bucks less than another battery for my Echo battery saw. I’m going to see if there are any locally or else I’ll order on amazon. I’m getting a little nervous about shipping now.
Someone is going to come up with a practical charcoal-powered chain saw before long.
No but it would be nice too have one except you might not be able too tilt it very far or the oil might not reach the pump/ or how are they lubeing the rod bearing oil system.??
The best way too cut wood with charcoal is too run a charcoal powered generator, and use electric saws. and electric motors too run a chunker too get wood smaller too dry out good in few weeks VS months or even years.
Not yet but I see one at tractor supply with an 18" bar HOT DOG
