We have been cutting firewood with all the clearing we have been doing. I built a roof over the wood rack one day.

I think you’ve been a little busy Jacob, how do you have time for everything?

You certainly keep busy Jakob. What’s that new road for? Not just for DOWing in circles I guess.

Mainly just to access the back of our property. We haven’t really been able to use it because we had to travel two miles around and come in through the neighbors property before.

Hey @JocundJake where do you get your gasket material for barrels? I remember seeing that you use a silicone or rubber rope?

All i had was fiberglass rope. and a tube of silicone

Did you impregnate the rope like Bobmac does or just use the silicone to glue it in?

Hi Cody, I like to use stove rope. I cut it to length put it in a zip lock bag squeeze the high temperature silicone in the bag. Squeeze most of the air out close the bag and start mixing it into the rope real good. The rope works best when it is put into a channel. Put plastic wrap over it and lock it down. Let cure over night and it is done. Make sure the metal is very clean so it will stick good.

This is the last seal I did. It will out last the gasifer.

Why not just the seals that MattR has recommended multiple times.
https://www.mcmaster.com/high-temperature-seals/ no muss no fuss. I will say that if you plan to keep building you better stock up on everything you are going to need because supply lines are shutting down and I don’t think they are going to rebound anytime soon.

Does anyone know where i can find a 2 inch keyless shaft locking devise that works. I cant find one. the out side diameter doesn’t mater. If it will lock on the outside to that would be nice or i am going to need to be able to weld to it

Are you talking about a tapper lock bush ? is so all bearing, pully, type shops will have them

What’s it going onto?

I am trying to try to mount a hub that I can mount a car rim on to a 2 inch shaft i milled. I can build a broach key but i would rather not have to. all the ones i find online are either $200 each or out of stock.

A lot of times the keys are used as shear pins. I don’t know the rest of the design nor whether the connection you are asking about can be used for that purpose. Just making sure you have thought about it before you twist up your other work, which you probably have :stuck_out_tongue:
