tungsten carbide–cobalt (WC–Co) cemented carbide
K, not too sure what that is.
I want to make a specialized restriction for a gasifier out of Silicon Carbide (SiC). SiC is used to make foundry crucibles that last a very long time, so I think i will do well. SiC is also known by the trade names Carborundum, Starbide and Hexaloy.
Tungsten carbide–cobalt (WC-Co) crucibles are specialized, high-performance containers designed for extreme industrial environments, combining the immense hardness of tungsten carbide with the toughness of a cobalt binder. They excel in high-temperature, wear-resistant, and chemically aggressive applications, such as specialized melting and material processing.
Silicon Carbide is probably cheaper and easier, it is available but I am not finding a pre-mix. Except I found one in china and lost the link. For slip casting, it would require like a detergent and a sintering aid. I am also a little surprised I also haven’t found some generic recipe for say kiln parts.
Apparently it can cause cancer, and you aren’t supposed to breath it, so wear protection if you do it.
If you don’t have a recipe. I would email these guys and see what they say. They may know.
