Since I know this truck will run good with the setup it has, I’m getting it ready to accept a raw wood gasifier. While I’m taking my sweet time on the WK I do have that other gasifier I made ready to go, the one that’s more Imbert/Peterson than anything. Getting the holes marked out. For this one I’m just going to cut the center hole out and let the 55 gallon drum support the weight of the hearth. The 55 gallon drum is just a preheating jacket anyways.

One other thing I ran into with my ugly air mixer setup, it was dangerously close to the radiator fan and was a pain to get in there. I’m gonna make up a new one using stainless sanitary elbows and Tees. The stainless is a slight step down in size from the throttle body so that means I can use my emergency big stuff catching screen. I have plenty of hood clearance for an elbow upwards.

Edit:

Here’s the hole

Here’s that gasifier I’d built, which is basically an Imbert that will have a monorator addition. My hope is as air comes in through the 55 gallon drum it’ll preheat the air some, but more importantly I’ll have the hopper preheating and a monorator up top. I think the idea was that the column of heat will make a mushroom cloud sort of effect when it gets up into the monorator. If anything, the gas jacket acts like a drop box with how high up the gas has to climb. I should have added some flex exhaust to the air inlet and wrapped it around to increase dwell time, I can always add that later.

Frame holds up the important part of the gasifier and it’s resting by a strong rim of a water heater tank. The 55 gallon jacket is also sitting on the floor of the bed. When I move to a WK I’ll have to think of a way to support the other side so it won’t teeter totter.

I have a drum brake with a 6" hole already cut out. Since this is an Imbert I might size it a bit smaller and go by the Ben Peterson spec.

One thing stupid that I did was this gasifier has a 2" conduit outlet. I don’t know what I was thinking. I should go for a 3" at the very least. Or maybe a 2x4" rectangular tube going into a cyclone?
