Continuing the discussion from Life goes on - Winter 2024
In winter, tools are repaired that we would need in the spring… I broke this almost 100-year-old wooden plow last year, and I set about restoring it for the next 100 years…
Nice work Tone , it will probably last 200years now.
From about the last two weeks.
Two days after i found coltsfoot, i picked blue anemones, spring is here!
On my way to work two days later…
Weekend after, enjoying a walking trail, our pet-duck Ellie followed. Let her take a swim in a forest lake.
I never saw spring tooth drag teeth mounted “backwards” before.
After lunch I blew out the embers in the gasifier, well, with the new blower it’s done quickly…
Mr. Don, get on my tractor and see how this harrow works,…
Mr. Wayne, don’t be angry because I use your words, I really like them.
At work, my boss gave me a new phone, it has a better camera, and I made this video…
Even the sound is better with your new phone!
Now I see the hook on the shovel tine. It is not backward after all.
Hey Tone
Thanks much for the video . Looks like you are enjoying farming .
I didn’t fire up the wood burner today but I did make a lot of smoke .
Man I wish I had enough land to warrent a tractor build it looks like such good fun
Excellent camera and camera work, Tone. The video is clearer than my eyesight allows in my own everyday life.
What’s the reason you replaced the cooler? Was the old radiator getting rusty or just too narrow passages in it? If so, did you notice any difference in performance from breathing easier?
I use an old couch pillow on my Fergie. Now I’m thinking I might get myself a stationary butt-pad on my pants
Having such a machine makes “no-plow” agriculture too boring
Hi Tone,
Loved to hear your now excellent video sound of a loaded engine working.
It is a richer, deeper sound of actual work being achieved.
AG tractors for me have always been the best for this. Having seat of the pants; heats blowing back, and some exhaust smells feed-backs too. And you the operators making it all happen.
Then for me it is AG trucks loaded hauling.
And sometimes loaded working engine generators:
AndrisL’s compression modified 420 cc vertical twin being electrically loaded tested. Sights. Sounds. Blown heats. Smells. And an undefinable “feel” learned for the system working.
Regards

JO, the old radiator worked well, there is actually no noticeable difference in engine power, but it is true that it had to be cleaned several times because it has narrow passages inside, there have been no problems with rust. One of the reasons is also the appearance of the tractor and the fact that I have extra money left because I don’t have to go to the gas station…
Tone, its a joy to look at you work the tractor. Few people know their creations as well as do you, that they make the startup procedure so elegant, its like a dance… it is art.
We too have been working the land today.
Planted some 1200-1500 onion bulbs today. Yes, we do eat a lot of onion how neatly they stand before being burryed, like litle soldiers
Lucky you! It is falling here but it is just melting.
On the bright side I might get one more run of sap. It is hard telling how much because I think the holes are starting to close up.
