Life goes on - Winter 2015

For the past couple of weeks I’ve been in Silverdale, Washington State to visit my first grandbaby (now 8 months).
She seems unusually happy all the time which I can’t remember my two kids attaining that standard in the 1980’s. (Grandparent thinking?)
My son is on the USS Nevada sub which runs over 20 years before a nuclear refueling. They generally scrap the whole vessel at the same time. He lives around ICBM’s on board.
My favorite moment was being 100 yards on land from the USS Kitty Hawk and the USS Nimitz aircraft carriers as I was on base with a navy escort related to me. Had to look 5 stories up to see the decks.
Son plans to hang on for 20 years total to receive a life long pension.

No kidding? I live in Chimacum, about 45 minutes north of Silverdale (assuming the bridge isn’t an issue), though I’m over in Sequim for a while.

45 minutes for traveling in your state is like 15 minutes in Michigan. I even spent long down travel behind a 70 - 72 Ford truck and smelled him the whole way due to his carburetor. (I’m carbed myself for daily commute torturing mopeds.)

Ahh. . . gee DougD
We’s always trying to convince others that it is too wet and cold here for decent living. 25 years and older are emissions check exempt except for visible oil smoking.
Glad you got here after the Fall rains took away the scary too dry, too long drought “dry-nice” and crunchy. Good leaf change year for us.
Darn Pacific front last night blew off my tarp on the last cord not yet in and 1/2" of rain will make that now low output wood. No more wood drying now until next June.

Yes what Don Mannes said; I’m not sure I get up to “half fast” any more, but if I paint a line in the morning I can tell I have moved a little. Happy birthday and it is a pleasure knowing you. TomC

Happy birthday Wayne.

Was working under the truck and my favorite hat (the DOW hat) fell off and landed right in the drain pan full of nasty old oil. I was compelled to say a bad word.
