How did you make the post holes in the concrete?

So the posts are set with sackcrete like a fence post dug out a hole and then also drove them in some with a post driver.

I have had to do some previously on top of block steps. On those I just welded plates to the bottom of the posts and used anchor bolts and then covered them with a post base cap from Amazon. I am going to have to build the ones up in the deck and mount them to the cedar 12/12 posts .

These are built in place very custom work. Most times I just use square tube and cut and weld miters this is the first one I’ve done pipe. I prefer the square it is much faster.

I bought a little Hobart handler 140 that I have been using it’s not really hot enough to weld great but it’s the best I can do on 110 v on extension cords. I have used the stick welder with some but I’m not as good as @JO_Olsson I can’t get a perfect weld on this thing tubing it’s easier just to grind extra after the mig

So I realized it has been a while since I posted
I’m not doing much with DOW right now I spent the summer remodeling a house for my grandparents. That is getting close to wrapping up. Now I’m getting back to milling for my house hopefully to get some progress on this winter

My primary hope is in the Lord, but you and your family are a great encouragement! It’s wonderful to see your progress.

How many saw blades did you go through? That is a lot of lumber!

I’ve broke 30 something.

I have about 15 more that I have run the original sharpen off of.

With those #s I’ve cut the lumber for Luke’s house and 4+ other orders

I resharpen everything actually just hit a record 27 resharpens on one blade it is still cutting but very slowly there is hardly any teeth left.

Buying this sharpener was one of the best investments I’ve ever made.

Yes , but a good investment that pays you back in the longer running and cutting of blades.

Something I have learned over the years of sawing, loosen the tension on your blade when your finished sawing, or not saw for a time. When sharpening grind out the gullet just a little, there are microscopic cracks that will cause breaks, and don’t run a dull blade.

Didn’t they used to call that gumming the blade?

I have also noticed that when I grind down in the gullet some I have teeth for longer.
No that you mention it I can see why some blades last longer than others thanks for that.

I also have started running heavy soap water on the blade. Instead of just a drip use a pretty consistent stream. I’ve found it helps a lot especially when cutting this sappy pine.
