That looks about the size of a musketball hole! Is your wife mad at you again?
Jan, use angle iron!

@JO_Olsson , what do you think about this, it was 18 days since I cleaned the ashtray and the cyclone, it looks like it works?
Max, I had angle iron at first, but I did not get it well.
Perfect Jan !

hi jan congradulations finding and fixing the vac leak, i found a weak link on mine, as i forgot too put the 2Γ4" in my ammo can too keep the sides from getting sucked in, and it stalled and back fired just as a road comission truck passed, i fliped off the air control and turned on fuel pump and drove about 1mile from my driveway.
(and it stalled and back fired just as a road commission truck passed)
Murphys, is with us everywhere.
I found a leak anyway, but think I have something more, because I get no idle on the car anymore.
Yes if you caint turn the air inlet down enough too idle, you probley have too find another air leak. You could try shooting smoke through your systom too find the leak maybe help. At leist if its exturnal leak or many small leaks check. And or charbed or filters plugging. If charbed is plugging you can tell by comparing vacuem gages, post /pre.
What happened? Is that smoke or ash, or both?
It was burning around the ash hatch and in the insulation when I came out to the lake. Luckily I had a fire extinguisher on the car.
I cleaned from ashes yesterday and tried to run on pine wood today, it apparently got much warmer than with birch.
Do not know if the gasket for the door has burned up, do not know what it looks like inside yet.
Where is the unlike button. Wow.
Bob
Yes, it was exciting to see the flames through the back mirror.
However, I think it is strange that it got warmer with pine than with birch, but have problems with a little tar (I think) in the intake, when I drove on birch, see if it changes with pine.
The car went about the same with pine, possibly a little stronger.
Jan, most likely air leaked into your ash door. Maybe some debrie got caught during cleanout and prevented it to seal properly.
I canβt imagine birch or pine would make any difference, unless unwanted oxygene sneaked in.
What kind of seal do you have for the ash hatch, you who have a hatch?
Starting to wonder if I have a leak somewhere else as well, the cooling pipes are getting hotter than usual I think.
I have a leak between the hopper and the fire pipe, there will be smoke there when I stop the unit.
Is there something I need to fix urgently, or can I wait a while with it?
Not the easiest way to make firewood, and only pine twigs.
Jan, the good thing about axe-splitting chunks is that there will be less time left for driving and consumption will be low To tell you the truth I would much rather spend time in that chair of yours than being at work.
Looks like you even debarked the limbs, did you?
About the leak. Depends on itβs size I guess. Just a small one will probably not hurt anything.
I bet that tar from the pine will eventually seal up the leak. Based on what Wayne says he fuels his truck with it looks like he has a shellac coat on the inside from the pine tar.
Also Jan what design did you use for your S10? It looks similar to J.O.s build.
JO, the sheep have debarked these this winter, they like a lot the bark on pine twigs.
Do you have fiberglass string as a seal between the fire pipe and the jumper?
Cody, almost nothing sticks to my hopper, it is made of stainless steel, and next to the fire pipe it gets too hot for the tar to stick.
And yes, I look at how JO has done and try to do something similar, many times.
Yes, of course. Another good reason to keep sheep. Keeps the grate from plugging.
My transition between gasifier and hopper is the stand of a propane tank. Itβs welded to the nozzle manifold. The hopper is bolted to the stand with only silicone for a seal.
OK, will try this when I take it apart, the previous fire tube became too hot for silicone, but it might work better with the new one.
I have driven 16 days with only pine, and the idle is better and faster to light in the morning.
The intake manifold looks much drier now, before it was like chewing gum, now more like powder.
It must have been the birch wood that was too wet, pine should be worse to drive, right?
