Here I will start this topic about converting interesting engines, the first in line was the engine on my IMT 533 tractor, where I reduced the compression ratio from 1:16.5 to 1:13.5 and installed a spark plug ignition system so that it can now run on wood gas. Somewhere in a neighboring topic I posted pictures of the Indos forklift, which I am currently restoring, this forklift has an identical engine to the IMT 533 tractor. I completely restored the gearbox and the engine, well, I do not intend to convert this forklift for wood gas for the time being, but I want it to start nicely on diesel fuel without a glow plug, so I increased the CR slightly, namely to 1: 18.5. These engines have an interesting combustion chamber design, which is closed from the outside with a semicircular part, which allows you to easily change the size of the combustion chamber. The factory combustion chamber is 50 cc, but now I have reduced it to 45 cc. I am attaching some pictures and a video…
Joep, these engines have a vacuum regulation of the diesel pump, it is a very simple system of regulating the working revolutions, well, if I cover the intake opening with my hand, a strong vacuum is created, the diesel pump thus closes the fuel and the engine turns off.
Tom, JO, thank you for the kind words that I do not deserve. I have some kind of mental disorder that I buy these old used machines and engines, but when they are at home they force me to do the restoration work, because otherwise they are a pile of useless iron. I will finish this forklift soon, then it will be the turn of the old Austrian engine, which will run on wood gas.

That is exacly why i really want to visit you Tone
Goran, I would be happy to have you visit! Maybe we will meet someday…
Some preparations for restoring the ignition magnet… I will use a regular 220/24V transformer,… a little welding,… grinding…
tone, a lot of likes, but i not understand what are you doing …will you revitalize the horseshoe magnets?
i have read somewhere that this should be done only with direct current,
alternated current destroys the magnetism…
Andris, thanks for your help. The transformer windings are used to magnetize the core, which I opened and stretched, so it will be possible to magnetize different sizes of magnets. You can see in the photo that I connected 24 V DC to the primary winding (220V), the electric current is about 4 A, a very strong magnet is created, and it is possible to increase the strength of the magnet by short-circuiting the secondary winding,…
Today I worked on restoring the Bosch ff1ar magneto ignition, I replaced the capacitor, repaired the oxidized connection that connects the slip ring with the high-voltage coil, I “charged” the horseshoe magnet with a customized transformer,… I did the magnetization by applying 24V DC voltage to the primary winding, and an inverter welding machine to the secondary, which I limited to 20A, of course I first determined the direction of the magnet of each coil, since the magnetism must be added together. Before the restoration, the horseshoe magnet held a 13 key on one tip, and then a 32 key, a significant difference.
Unfortunately, I didn’t take pictures, because I did the work at work, this is all I have…
I am slowly working on an engine that will possibly run on “free” nuclear energy that comes from the sun to the earth and is stored in the forest,…
on the engine head, first you need to make mounting seats at four points above the screw holes
tone, nice work, thank you for showing all details, 4 grip points lathe is better than 3 grip points… i learned yesterday with my magneto basement…
the aluminium welding on the piston, how you have made it? filled completely with aluminium or only covered with a plate and underneath remained a hollow space?
Giorgio, greetings, I filled the combustion chamber in the aluminum piston completely, I was a little worried about the weight, well, it’s still a bit lighter than the iron piston.
A four-jaw head on a lathe often comes in handy, but for most things a three-jaw head is better.
Test start of the engine… you can hear the ball bearings on the main shaft, which I did not replace, but as such they will continue to operate for a long time…
Hello Goran, this afternoon it ran for about an hour as a test, I loaded it with a brake - a wooden oak board that slid on the flywheel, weighted with a small anvil, … I have a feeling that the power and torque are very good. According to the factory data, it should have 6 hp, but I think it will easily reach more than 10 hp (920 ccm), well, when it drives an electric generator, I will make precise measurements.
