Deals On Wheels 2

That seems way over priced to me. All of mine that were just trucks( No gasifier) were all under $1,000.00

Hello Mr. Wayne, if you were closer, I would have already taken your truck :grinning:

I have to repeat the medical procedure/operation from helllll, so this will be gone before I can see it. Any comments or knowledge about this rig?

Jeff, I would say it may be an OK truck, but I am pretty sure that V6 is not a candidate for wood gas power. Besides, a V6 would underpower that truck running on wood gas. I would say keep looking.

Mike, I think your right. I also doubt that I would have the time to start that project. But I’ll keep looking. Would like something at least 25 years old and heavier than a one ton.

Need to start looking for a V-10 like Wayne’s, unless you really mean a much heavier than that truck. You going to pull a 'Dozer around?? If so… you may be into a larger Diesel chassis!

Say a two ton single axle. Kind of like a short single axle dump truck. Without the dump. Not over 26K lbs. Gasoline vintage. Old style rounded fenders. Most of the driving would be two miles and sometimes five miles to town. Maybe once or twice a year to an auction, twenty miles. There was a dandy farm truck about two months ago. It was about a hundred miles away. If I was in better shape I would have at least looked at it. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: I use the farm tractor to move the dozer and skidder.

I see a lot of short school busses and transports like that for sale, would require moving heavy objects to modify to your needs. There is a place in Decatur that parts out old ambulances. They have chassis for sale, they are probably all Diesels. There is also the antique fire truck route. I have seen them parked behind barns, etc. Sounds like a lot of work to modify. Look in Farmer-to Farmer sales papers. I also see “Rock and Dirt” has an online site. A lot of junk for sale on Facebook Marketplace, Maybe a good deal in the rubble somewhere. :cowboy_hat_face:
I just have to add: If it was me, I would be looking for that rare 1990’s Dodge V-10. @Wayne 's is simply poetry in motion for functionality and practicality. Pulls about anything you would want to move.

Mike, lots of good ideas and the V10. Another idea is that some RV have a cab. Forget the class. An old RV doesn’t have much value and some are low milage.

I guess it is more of a hobby looking and dreaming. I doubt that my situation would allow a large project.

Even a small truck would be nice to puttsy around with.

Maybe go back to scheming about converting my car. It is a Ford Escape 2006 with a V6 and a plastic intake.

Maybe I should finish a few of the million projects that I already started. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Oh the down side of being a schemer.

I’ll keep looking.

Jeff for something like that you will probably have to look in North Dakota or Arizona Arkansas region. Places where it is either desert or too cold for salt on the roads. I love the old fenders with separate lights and desperately wanted something like that for years. But I don’t really enjoy the rough ride and lack of power steering.
Last winter I tracked down a couple of nice old farm trucks near Fargo North Dakota and almost bought one and had it shipped across the country. But in the end I decided my path forward doesn’t include a old farm truck atleast not at the moment.

Dan, I have to admit that I am more attracted to tractors and homemade vehicles. I like building strange vehicles more than gasifiers.

Some times the best junk is the junk you own.

I’d be looking for an older, small wrecker. Big alternator, hydraulic PTO with a pump, boom and other push, pull goodies. Had one lined up just before the depression came and ate us alive.

Jeff, I know just what you mean. We have a lot of them here. They sell for less then scrap price.
My dad bought this from an auction in Orange County, CA. I drove it here.

So cargo trucks might be a choice too.

Bruce, yes larger trucks can be found a lot cheaper than a pickup. Been thinking that a light weight runabout might be my better choice.

I’ve wanted to get an old box truck like that and put a flatbed on it.

The tilt cab would be nice. The box could be used to store stuff. Hmm.
