First Ranger drive!

Indeed you were, and like others of us, got caught. Ha! I believe the “gains” are out there to be had, but it’s going to take some work to get it. It’l be interesting to follow this, good luck.

Terry, We used to discuss that there were 2 types of tar. There is a waxy kind that does not damage and stick things up and of course the creosote type that cools on the valve stems and hardens. I have to make some charcoal to fill the lower section of my new unit and then run it an hour or so to get it stable before adding the filter hay etc. Haste makes waste in this business. Mike

Yes Mike, maybe that is what saved me? This is a very soft tar. I assumed it was from a high moisture content.

Actually, when I discovered a better flare after the first run I thought of you and ran boiling water down it’s throat for preventative measures!

Terry,
Is this a form of fractional distillation? I would be interested in implementing something to this effect if you’re ok with that?

Bill, I think of fractional distillation as taking a variety of densities. It certainly is not that refined.

Please be my guest. I would be anxious to hear your outcome.
