As an aside, are there occasional/regular “meet-ups” or gatherings for us gasifier folk? It would be kinda cool if there was something for us like there is for Harley’s in Sturgess. In my neck of the woods we have weekly “classic car” meetups in the summer. Am gunning for that this year
You were asking about the v-10 carburated dodges . As far as I know all the v-10 dodges were mutiport fuel injected and made from 94 until 2003 . I have gasified a 1995 and a 96 and have a 94 not gasified ( parts if needed )
I try to avoid gasifing any carburated motor if there is a multi port option .
Thanks Wayne… I’m slowly realizing there’s a lot about trucks I still need to learn, incl MPFI. So I will be on the lookout for my NEXT gasifier project: V10-MPFI. What make/model/year fits that bill the best? In the mean-time, I shall continue with the Dakota. I’m modifying the air cleaner now. What air filters do you recommend for the 2 air inlets? A dedicated filter for each? Mounted where? I intend to swap out the stock air cleaner first in order to get the truck running on 2 dedicated inlets, before installing the 2 woodgas inlets. And then complete the plumbing… pics forthcoming
I’ve only gasified one vehicle so far. A 1994 Dodge Dakota. On that project I did use ABS for all the plumbing. Because like you it was a lot cheaper where I am. Also it has a higher resistance to cold and possibly heat too though I’m not sure about that part. So far I haven’t had any issues with it. Even with one pipe two inches from the one exhaust manifold.
I would recommend using the ABS for plumbing especially if you can get it cheaper.
P.S.(The good thing is that it’s already black and won’t need to be painted.)
Thank you Bronlin
Since this is my 1st conversion, I will go with ABS until I discover otherwise. BTW max temp for PVC is 140 F, ABS 176 F & cPVC 210 F.
Wayne thx for the vids… was thinking the same - nice to get confirmation
